Personality

Bane is even more moody and anti-social than before. Although he does not hide himself like he did as a child, he still has a tendency to find the most obscure corner possible and stay there until someone sees him. He has developed a liking for reading fantasy novels, but aside from his friends, it seems to be the only thing he likes.

Bane was a strange child, and always had been. As his mother had died birthing him, he was considered bad luck, and because of that, his father had abandoned him. Although they silently agreed that they would be better off without him, the elders did not have the heart to turn him out. They took care of him, but did little other than that, showing him no affection whatsoever.

The other children tried to befriend him, but his surly personality chased them away. Despite his unfriendly aura, they were still kind to him. Whether or not this was because it was in their nature or because their parents had told them to be nice, he never found out, as the Hynos attacked the village some months after his fifth birthday.

After the destruction had ended, the Hynos scouted the village for survivors. Adults, they killed, and children unable to defend themselves, they took to sell as slaves. Bane was shielded by one of the adults' dead bodies, and the Hynos did not look under the corpse for him. They left the village behind, empty and destroyed, and only when night fell did Bane come out and wander away from the carnage.

Slightly dazed by the violence he had just witnessed, Bane found himself in the haunted evergreen forest that was near his home. Vaguely, he remembered the stories of the shadow-people that supposedly lived amongst the trees, but those had simply been stories to frighten the little children. He did not believe them, so he walked deeper into the forest, and met the girl.

"You look tired," the girl had said to him, smiling. By the time Bane had met the older girl, he was indeed tired, as well as hungry and thirsty. Trusting the girl in the way that only a small child could trust, he took her hand, and she led him even deeper into the forest, into a hidden village.

The village was small, even smaller than the one he had once lived in, and the people there were kind, even the adults, despite the fact that he told them that his mother had died giving birth to him. They only smiled, and said how sorry they were for him, all the while wearing their blank, far away look in their eyes.

The girl led him into a small hut in the center of the town, and put him there. Then she closed the door, and Bane was left in darkness.

Three times a day, food and water was delivered to him, but those were the only times that he saw sunlight, through the crack in the door when it was opened. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. It was solid, like the walls, and nothing he did could get him out.

After what seemed to be countless days, months, perhaps years, he noticed that the food stopped coming. He tried to open the door again, wondering what had happened to the people keeping him prisoner, but the door was shut as tightly as always.

A day after that, the girl whom had initially brought him there came back. She opened the door, and did not close it. Bane blinked in the darkness. He had been expecting sunlight, but there was no light. He peered out the door, beyond the girl, but could only see brown murkiness, and nothing else.

The girl walked over to him and crouched down. A tear slid down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away and smiled at him cheerfully, as cheerfully as she had when they had first met. She reached out her hand, and Bane took it. Had it been anyone else, he would've walked away, but he liked the girl. He was glad to see her.

The last words Bane ever heard in his world were from her.

"I...I...I'm sorry I brought you here."

*looks at sepia* I wonder if he can hear me. Hi Bane, I hope you can hear me, because if not I'm pretty much talking to myself. I guess I should tell you a little about myself; my name is Xela (it means little acorn in Latvian) and I am going to try my best to take care of you, if you will let me. I am in college working towards getting my degree so that I can teach highschool history. I love reading, taking photos, and going to hockey games. I am painfully shy, therefor I don't have many friends; maybe, if you open up to me, you can be my friend... I hope so. heart Well Bane, I must go to my astronomy class, but I will be thinking of you.

IT'S SNOWING! wow, i love when it snows! i wish my sepia baby would come out of hiding! we could frolic in the snow! hehe xd on the other hand, i don't think he is the type to frolic in anything... when he comes out of hiding i'm going to do my best to gain his trust and luff him! maybe i can take this moody,anti-social, broody sepia and teach him love, trust, understanding, and kindness. 3nodding yes, that is what i will do!

His name is Sus, but don't believe a word he says, cuz he is a liar by nature, but that doesn't mean that I will love him any less, and neither should you. I HATE PEOPLE! The guy I am totally in lust with left this get together last night with two other girls. I know I shouldn't be mad, because I honestly never had the nerve to say anything to him, so how could he notice me? But I guess since he and I have made quite a few eye contacts from across the room, I figured he might be interested... but I guess I was wrong! Plus, the girls were both bubbling idiots! Then on my way home, I got a speeding ticket! ARGH I hate people.... Bane I really need someone right now, so I am sorry you have to see all of this...

I'm so glad you've come out of hiding, Bane. Today, I ran my car into a ditch after swerving because of a deer... so now I have no car to get to my classes with! I haven't been in the best mood lately, but it is probably because I haven't been taking my antidepressants. I don't know how I am supposed to take care of you if I can barely take care of myself. And how am I going to show you how wonderful people really can be if I don't believe it myself? If you ever get frustrated with me or anyone else, my best advice to you is to write it in a journal; it's the best advice I have ever received! It helps get the bad feelings out.

I don't need a journal and I don't like this stupid cat...

Alright, today was quite exciting. I met Kanji and her little one Knife, Fromage and her little one Jani, and briefly Sabith. We had quite the run around in the shop today, all I know is that one minute I see Bane, Jani, and Knife run into this closet, and the next minute the closet is empty! Then a few minutes later Bane comes waltzing out with a cute little grin on his face... I've never seen the boy happy... I wonder what happened.

Today was great! I can't remember the last time I have had a day like this. Xela took me to this place called "The Sepia Shop" which is kinda weird since I am from Sepia... but that's besides the point. I met these two girls, Jani and Knife; I really like Jani... when I held her hand I felt this warm feeling in my chest... it made me happy, I haven't been happy in a long time. Xela is worried about me; she says that I might be sick since I have been smiling since I got home from the shop! I must say, Xela can be quite silly at times. She still expects me to play with that cat thing, and that definately won't be happening any time soon.

Oh my goodness! Today was quite trying for me as a mother. Bane and his little *girlfriend* wanted to know what mating was! Aren't they a little young? I guess not. I met Raith today, needless to say I think he could use some better manners and his mouth isn't very nice either. I'm very glad that Bane has taken a liking to Jani, but he doesn't seem to like anyone else. He told me today that he hates Raith, and I hope that doesn't prove to be a problem...

Today was weird... Xela and I went to the shop and there were sooo many people there! I didn't like Raith, he was... uncouth as Xela put it. Personally, I just think he was a jerk. The best part about today was that I got to hang out with Jani. She's the only person I like besides Xela. We learned about mating and puberty today too... Jani and I thought it was some kind of game and Jani said we should mate that's when Xela looked like she was having a heart attack. Now that I know what mating means, Xela teases me about Jani. She says I have a girlfriend and I was like, "Well yeah, I do. Jani is a girl, and I guess she is my friend, so yeah, I guess I have a girlfriend." I guess I misunderstood her when she said girlfriend, because she seems to think I am in love with Jani... I just like Jani, we are friends...

Alright, since this is my journal for my personal thoughts... I have decided to spill out my true feelings. I did some thinking today and decided to ask Xela why every time I come into contact with Jani I get this warm feeling in my chest and I start blushing, she said that is what she feels like when she gets around some guy named Anton (I haven't met him, and I don't think I want to) and it's because she likes him. So, yeah, I like Jani... I mean I really like Jani... but I don't think she likes me the way I like her. ~Bane~

I HATE XELA SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! She hasn't taken me to the shop in days and I haven't gotten to see Jani, I have a present for her but I will never get to give it to her because Xela is being such a butt! I wonder what everyone is doing... well not everyone, just Jani and Knife, I really don't care aboot the rest of them! Especially Raith, he's such a jerk to Jani and Knife and that's just not ok. Xela told me aboot this thing called Valentine's day where you give presents to people you care aboot, so I told her I wanted to get Jani something, so she decided that she would finally take me shopping; I thought this meant I would get to go to the shop, but I was wrong. Anyway, I got Jani this really neat chest so that she could put all of her treasures, or shinies as she says, in it. Xela said that's not the type of gift people give on Valentine's day, she said people give candy and flowers, but I think Jani would like the box better. Plus, I found her a bunch of shiny sea shells and put them in there for her. Hopefully she will like it, if I ever get to give it to her! *glares at Xela*

Alright, I have decideded that it is time for me to make a list of who I like and who I don't like... so here it goes:

People I like:

Janika: I haven't talked to Jani since we both became teenagers... I don't know why though.
AWWWWW! I was hoping they would be mates too... darn... oh well... there are others... ~Xela~

Raith: Um... yeah...
*chokes on water* YOU LIKE RAITH?! *faints*
Sabith: He was there for me when I needed to talk to someone, which puts him in pretty high standing in my book.
*shudders* he scares me...
Xela: She does some things that really piss me off, and sometimes she won't leave me alone... oh and she makes this high-pitched squeal when she gets excited (really annoying), but all in all she's nice! Now she wants me to play hockey too... ever since she met that dumb hockey player Anton, she has become obsessed with me playing hockey... weird.
Notice he didn't say he loves me! Hey there's nothing wrong with my squeal! HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY...*drools* Anton...
Dawn: Can't hate the little girl for some reason...
Hammer: She doesn't speak English, but she seems ok. She's Jani's little sister.

People I HATE:

Aleah: He hates me for something I did in the past, the boy seriously needs to learn how to bury the hatchet! I don't hate him persay... I hate the fact that he hates me for something I did a long time ago...
