Noir was woken by the sound of birds outside of her room's window. She peeked curiously out into the night, lit very faintly by the glow of the moon behind clouds. Taka crawled from her side onto her lap, and purred. She pet him with a free hand, and shooed him off of her legs. Standing, she reached towards her screen, and took her housecoat from a post. Tying the thick ribbon around the center, she clicked her tongue and Taka followed her out of the house.
'Last night I had a dream...' She wrote onto the parchment paper, beneath the gnarled branches of her Shrine. '...That I saw my mother's face. She was angry, and ran away from me. I was just a little girl, and I called out for her, but she would not come back. Taka came to me, in my dream. He was just a young cat, a kitten. He sat and cried with me, and when I saw his tears, I felt comfortable again.'
She rolled the piece of parchment, hesitant to write anything more. Blowing out her red candles, a present from Nivanya, she stood and brushed some small leaves and brush from the rim of her housecoat. She clicked her tongue again and wandered back up the hill, and into Noh.
