History

Humans crash landed onto a nameless planet. They had almost no way of returning to Earth, but the climate was hospitable. As they stepped out of the ship, a tremendous growling was heard and a howling ghostly song blasted through the air.

The humans heard a yelping, peeping, sound in the grass near them. One of them stepped forward and parted it, revealing an infantile puppyish animal with odd limbs protruding from its back. He bent to pick it up and an enormous sky blue winged wolf-like creature launched herself at him. She would have ripped him to shreds, but his comrade fired her gun and the alien creature was dead.

The band of 6 humans heard more yelping and two more of the strange puppies were discovered. They traveled onward in search of a way home, hunting and eating the strange beasts as they went. Each time, they found one of the puppies, they took it with them. They found other odd creatures too, and collected eggs and other objects that they found.

They crossed mountains and rivers, driven mad by the haunting song that always rang out over the land and sea.

Eventually, they discovered an old spaceship that was in much better condition that their own. They left the planet with their specimens, but could only get so far on limited fuel. It turns out that the specimens were much hardier than the humans, because not one of the six made it when the ship crash landed on a different planet in the same galaxy.

This is where I stepped in. It just so happens that the crash occured on a Fireday (that's Tuesday) morning in MY forest. I found the ship, and the infant puppies inside. Apparently, some had grown during the trip and they darted out and away as soon as I opened the hatch.

There were 12 puppies left. I took them home and am taking care of them, but they're a handful. I can't raise them all on my own, but they make good pets, really, they do. Once they're old enough to be adopted, I will be looking for loving owners to take them off my hands.

They were a lot of trouble to raise, but it was worth it. These pups are ready to go to new homes where they can be your responsibility instead of mine. I want to make sure they go to good owners, so PM me about it. Some of them have minor personality requirements that must be followed for them to acheive their full potential.

Life Stages

There will be 4 basic stages:

Infant- This will last 2 to 4 days, depending on how well you post.

At this point, the Ripedioc pup has just gotten to the point where I no longer have to get up every 4 hours to feed it during the night. It is suitable for adoption.


Puppy- This will last anywhere from 2 weeks to several months, depending on how well you post.

The Ripedioc is no longer a helpless bundle of fur. It will be very inquisitive and get into everything and have far more energy than I do (but hopefully not you). It has wings, but no flight feathers have grown in yet. This is the time when you would usually bring home a normal dog.



Yearling- No, this will not take an entire year. It will take 3 weeks to several months depending on how well you post.

When a wolf is a year old, it is considered an adolescent. That's what your Ripedioc is. It may have trouble adjusting to its growing body and may appear lanky or underfed at times. A Ripedioc's wings will fledge and it will begin learning to fly. This is also the stage when a Ripedioc learns its place in the household. It may be testy and irritable, but it's only seeing whether or not it outranks you. You'll get through it.



Adult- Unless your Ripedioc aspires to greater than the norm, it will stay this way.

Fully grown Ripediocs make great pets and are considerably less stressful than the puppies are. They have fully developed wings and can fly long distances. Adults can also breed and produce offspring. (see 'Breeding' for more information). Adult Ripediocs will sing. Back on their home planet, all of them were in harmony, but here, they howl like the wind, a haunting and familiar melody, but it has gaps in it and places that don't quite fit. Ripediocs can only sing in harmony with their mates (and it still doesn't sound quite that nice). Since some people have been driven insane by the singing of their Ripediocs, please don't hesitate to seek counciling before you attempt to silence your pet once and for all.



Other Forms:

Leader- an adult Ripedioc whose owner has RPed faithfully and literately. Also a Ripedioc who acheives great status among his peers, or wins a tournoment. Possibly someone who has done me or another player a great favor (like helping out with the workload)

Hero- Only certain wild bred, or pre-set offspring can acheive this form. These Ripediocs have done something great in their lives. Hero Ripediocs will produce more offspring when bred (maximum of 6 rather than 4). It will be listed when a puppy who can become a Hero goes up for adoption. If your Ripedioc has acheived Hero status, you get discounts on art.

Legendary- Only certain wild bred or pre-set offspring can acheive this form. Legendary Ripediocs must have a detailed history of what they have acomplished. Legendary Ripediocs have a higher chance of passing on their traits (including the ability to become legendary) to offspring when bred. They can have 5 pups per litter. It will be listed when a pup goes up for adoption that can become Legendary. If your Ripedioc becomes Legendary, I will give you discounted art.

Celestial- Only certain wild bred or pre-set offspring can acheive this form. A celestial Ripedioc can sing in harmony with any other Ripedioc above the adult stage. They always have 5 pups in a litter and at least one will be able to go higher than a leader. It will be listed when a Ripedioc pup that can become Celestial goes up for adoption. If your Ripedioc acheives this form, I will give you free art.

Loner- If a pup is not sold with its litter, it will be raised separately. I will RP it occasionally just to keep it alive, but it will grow very slowly. The pup will be put on the adoption list. Should nobody adopt it before it reaches adulthood. It will become a loner. A loner is distrustful of humans and likely to bite. If you choose to adopt one, treat it with care, RP often, and it might go back to being a normal social adult. Excercise caution though. Remember, these animals are capeble of killing a human. A loner will be extremely shy and skittish throughout its entire life. It may have difficulty even finding a mate among tame Ripedioc. If it has other forms, it can still acheive them, but a loner will never become a leader. Even if you manage to tame it, the bond will never be as deep as it would be if you raised it.

Art

Occasionally, when struck by the fancy that I can actually draw, I will do art. This goes up for sale. People who own legendary and hero Ripediocs get discounts. The person whose pet is being depicted gets first chance at buying the art. If it is random, anyone can have it.

I will sometimes do commissions too, but keep in mind, I don't have a tablet so it might take awhile.
