-:STORY:-

Jynk was out exploring some of the other areas of the Shifra Isles when she stumbled upon a large field of large lotus blossoms. Curious about them, she began walking among them, looking them over. Suddenly, one started to wriggle about, the petals begining to open.

"Pod people!" Jynk yelped, ducking down and covering her head.

"Pod?" a little voice said. Jynk uncovered her head and looked at the little fox creature before her.

"Wha?" Jynk asked, sitting up more.

"She won't hurt you," said another voice. Jynk turned around to see a bigger fox standing behind her with petals around it's neck.

"Um...hi," Jynk said sheepishly.

"We've heard about you. You're the demoness that has been helping the Ki-lin," the fox said.

"Yeah, that's me," Jynk said. News travelled fast around the isles apparently.

"Perhaps you could help us as well."

Did she have an invisible hobo 'X' on her somewhere that attracted creatures to her for help? She shrugged. "Sure. Whatchoo need?"

"Nothing much," the fox said. "My name's Heulwen. I'm an Oinari. We just need a bridge between us and the humans that are starting to travel to the isles now."

"Right on," Jynk said. "I can manage that."

-:RULES:-

01 Observe the Golden Rule: Respect people or Jynk will slap you silly.
02 Jynk does not crap out pets on command.
03 No whining about the pet you recieve in flatsales or how long growing is taking.
04 Don't pester Jynk about stuff. Your pets will grow and breed when it's time.
05 Tribes are up to the owners to form, but must have staff approval.
06 Don't steal the lineart or concept of this shop. We'll report you.
07 Only two Oinari per owner. Period.
08 Owners can not participate in flatsales.
09 No co-owning. It's too confusing.
10 If you own two Oinari, they are counted as siblings and may not breed together.
11 Siblings owned by two different owners are still siblings and can't breed together.

I'll add more rules as needed.

-:GENERAL INFO:-

:GROWING:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

This is how you get your Oinari, as a little lotus blossom. The Oinari don't start as flowers, babies are placed inside the blossoms by the mother for safe keeping. All blossoms look alike, unless it is a rare breed of lotus.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

When the baby is a little older, you can sometimes catch glimpses of them peeking out of the blossom to see the world around them. Very shy, they'll remain inside their blossom where they feel safest. At this point, they may begin trying to talk, but can only say a few words and usually those are one- to three-syllabyls. Sentences are usually only three or four words.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Once the Oinari reach their child stage, their push open their blossom so they can see everything. They're more inclined to leave their blossom and explore the immediate areas around them. Their speech is better and they can talk fairly well now and are quite talkative. At this point, they may also be testing out their ability to make plants grow, though they're really only able to get seeds to become sprouts, make a few blades of grass, or a few flowers. This takes a lot of energy out of them, so most Oinari children aren't interested in using their ability other than a few tries. They're children, they mostly want to have fun.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Entering that fun adolescent stage, Oinari begin focusing a little more on relationships and honing their abilities for making plants grow. It's still a tiring act, using their abilities, and they're still limited to some degrees. It really depends on how often they train with their power. Some will be more gifted than others. Along with having a greater handle on their abilities, they also begin noticing Oinari of the opposite (or same) gender and building relationships and strong friendships.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

As adults, Oinari will sometimes break off into tribes that are formed of friendships and relationships. They may also stay in their parents' tribe, too (but can only be in one tribe at a time). Their control over plant growth is as strong as it will ever be. If they trained a lot as adolescents, they'll be very good, if not..well, then they'll be quite a bit weaker. This is one reason tribes are formed, for protection and to support each other's abilities. At this stage (and only this stage) will Oinari seek mates, usually in their own tribe (though they may join a new tribe to find a mate).

-:RP INFO:-

First off, RP is strictly optional. It's appreciated, but not neccessary to keep your pet. However, you have to RP to be in a tribe or to breed.

:RP FAQ:

Do we need journals?
No, you don't. RP can be done in the shop thread or in the guild in the approriate areas.

How come my Oinari isn't growing fast enough?
For starters, there's a set minimum time they spend in each stage. After that, Oinari that aren't RPed as much will probably grow slower than others.

Why isn't my Oinari in a tribe?
Tribes are owner-run, meaning it's up to the owners to form a tribe and pick a the alpha of that tribe and talk to the staff about establishing it. If you don't RP regularly enough, your tribe may decide to drop you.

biggrin Os & DON'Ts:

DO RP as often as you can
DO speak using correct spelling and grammar
DO use proper English
DO stay in character
DO remember you Oinari's limitations
DO try to keep up with current situations in the RP
DO be courteous to those taking part in RP
DO try to be tactful about stuff
DO remember the big line between role-play and reality

DON'T whine if your Oinari is tribeless or can not breed if you're not RPing
DON'T form cliques or exclude people wanting to RP (owner or non-owner)
DON'T write for someone else's Oinari. It's rude.
DON'T use chatspeak or any other form of broken English.
DON'T hijack the RP. If a situation/scenario is already going, join in. Don't create a new one.
DON'T kill another person's Oinari without permission from the owner and shop owners.
DON'T use RPing as a way to beg for a Oinari. You'll be blacklisted.
DON'T attack other owners for how they choose to RP their Oinari.
DON'T start scenarios/situations for the sole purpose of fighting. Oinari are peaceful...usually.

More info will be added as needed.

-:BREEDING:-

So, you're Oinari is all grown up now and thinking of starting a family of their own? Well, this is the section to learn more about how getting a mate and breeding. I'll start it off with a little FAQ...

Can two Oinari of the same gender be mated and have offspring?
Yes...and no. See, Oinari can have homosexual couples, but they can't breed naturally. They'd need to adopt an abandoned baby (either from a wild or owned couple) as their own. It's not an easy or common process as most Oinari are not willing to abandon their young (with exception of shop stock lotus blossoms). I'll go into detail on that down below.

How many babies do the Oinari have in one breeding?
They can have around one to three offspring. The shop retains the right to keep one offspring from every litter, provided that litter has more than one offspring in it.

That doesn't seem fair.
Oh, it's all kinds of fair. The shop can't sell first generation Oinari forever. Eventually, the new generations will be needed for shop stock. It helps the shop run smoothly.

:THE BASICS:

Oinari must be adults to breed. That goes without saying. Oinari should probably be in the same tribe, though they can, on the rare occasion, be in two different tribes. As I said, there will be anywhere from one to three kits in a litter (do not ask me how many there will be, it's random). When they're born, the mother places them inside a lotus blossom for safe-keeping. Those blossoms are either placed in the shop for resale later, given to the owners (more on that in a sec), or auctioned.

:THE LOTUS:

There are, currently, three ways to get a lotus blossom containing an Oinari kit: flatsale, auction, custom sale. This doesn't include the blossoms obtained from breeding. So, what do you do with your little blossom? Well, I'll tell you...you take care of it and nurture it. Don't force it open or try to remove it from it's spot in the ground. You'll kill the kit that way. For the most part, the lotus will be tended to without you needing to look after it 24/7. Take this time to get to know other owners, so that you'll have people to arrange play-dates with when your Oinari is old enough.

Now, if you got a lotus from breeding or adoption (I'll explain that in a moment), you have the option keeping the lotus--making it count to your two-Oinari limit--or give it away, either giving it to a friend, giving it to the shop, or auctioning it. Please let me know what you plan to do with it. Once your lotus has reached the infant stage, you will not be able to sell it or give it away.

In the event you decide to auction it, the shop will handle the auction for you and split the winning bid with you 70-30 in your favour. Anyone caught auctioning or selling their lotuses without authorization from the shop will have all their pets revoked without refund.

Should you choose to give the lotus away, please tell the shop who will be the new owner so we can properly cert the lotus and record ownership. Lotuses may only change hands once. This means if you give the lotus to a friend, they can not give it to someone else or sell it. They can, if they want, give it to the shop, but they will recieve no payment for it.

If you decide to give it to the shop, you will not be recieving payment for it, but you'll get a nice discount on the breeding price. Donating eggs to the shop helps keep the shop stock populated for further sales. The shop will take one egg from each clutch produced by breeding that contains more than one egg...and this will not count toward the dontation egg.

:ADOPTING:

Since two Oinari of the same gender can not reproduce, they have the option of adopting a clutch. This will only occur one of two ways, though: a wild clutch is found abandoned or an owned couple is willing to transfer parental rights to their clutch. Since abandoned clutches are rare, adoptions won't be a common occurance. In fact, they'll cost a bit more than breeding and require an rp event to obtain a clutch for adoption. It's not that I have something against same-sex couples, it's just harder to talk Oinari into giving up rights as parents. They're very protective of their young.

For a same-sex mated pair to obtain a wild clutch to adopt, there will be an rp contest event in which the winners (yes, it has to be a group effort of the two owners wanting their Oinari to adopt) will be able to buy the wild clutch and treat it as their Oinari's own young. That means once their Oinari adopt, all breeding rules apply to the clutch: shop gets one egg if more than one exists in the clutch, and they can give away, donate, or auction the rest under the normal rules.

If there's a owned couple that would like to give up parental rights to their clutch, then they can either give the clutch to the shop for a 50% refund in which it will be auctioned off, or they can give the clutch to the owners of a same-gender couple in which they get a 50% refund and the new owners can pay an adoption cost. After that, the clutch is subject to the normal breeding rules. The obligatory egg will be taken out before auctioning the clutch or transfering parental rights.

-:TRIBES:-

What exactly are the tribes?
The tribes are bands of Oinari whose relationships have formed from friendships or mating.

What kind of tribes are there and how does one join?
The tribes are all owner-run (with permission and supervision of the shop) and they decide if you can join. Note: tribes are not synonymous with cliques and should not be treated as such. Any tribes becoming clique-ish will be disbanded..

Will it cost anything?
Starting a new tribe will cost 5k. That will be 1k from each founding member (you need at least 5 Oinari of five different owners to start a tribe). People do NOT need to pay to enter a tribe, unless making a new one. Tribe membership (once the tribe is established) should be obtained via rp. Any tribe caught charging for membership will be disbanded and all its members will be greylisted.

What's with the 5k?
That covers the cost of registering your tribe with the shop. You get listed on the shop thread as an official tribe and you'll get a thread in the guild. Threads started in the guild for tribes not on the shop list will be deleted. Only registered tribes can make their own threads (one per tribe). Registered tribes will get their name on their Oinari's certs and can opt to have the cert colours be a colour representing their tribe of 1k extra per member (charged to the Oinari's owner). The point of registering your tribe is to ensure that no one else can use the tribe name. Unregistered tribes will not be acknowledged by the shop (and will not show up on certs).

How do we start a tribe?
When five Oinari (of five different owners) decide to form a tribe, they can decide who is the tribe alpha and that Oinari's owner will PM me to set up the registration of the tribe. You will pick a name that is not already taken by another tribe and a colour (if you wish) that is also unclaimed to represent your tribe. This information, along with 5k and the names of the Oinari joining the tribe (must be at least five) will be sent to Jynk. If you plan on having your Oinari's certs' colours be the tribe colours, please let me know who's cert will be changed and send along the appropriate payment.

Do not send me 5 trades of 1k each. Have the person that owns the Oinari that will be your tribe's alpha send the full payment (including cert colour changes) all at once as well as the PM with all neccessary info.

Um...my Oinari's cert has a tribe already listed.
Your Oinari was probably born into a tribe, meaning both it's parents belonged to a tribe and it got automatic membership. You can always join a new tribe or found a new tribe if you want. You can also send 1k to change your cert to the tribe colours instead of the default green if you want.

Is there a certain age for this?
Yeah. Oinari have to be adults to found a tribe and have to be at least adolescents to join a new tribe.

Are there perks for being in a tribe?
Not really, but it does help in RP and with finding mates, ect. There may be perks later on, but for now, it's mostly for RP, mating, and breeding (although, you don't have to be in a tribe for breeding). The only real perk right now is that your Oinari's offspring will be automatically in whatever tribe your Oinari belong to. In the instance that the parents are in seperate tribes, the offspring will count as members of the mother's tribe. If only one parent is in the tribe, the offspring will count to that parent's tribe, regardless of which parent it is.

-:SALES:-

There will be four blossoms offered each flatsale (unless otherwise stated) and will cost 5k each. Don't try to buy one unless there's a sale going (which will be noted when Jynk posts "GO!" in the shop thread. Sales are likely to be few and far between till a colourist is found to work in the shop. Sorry.

First flatsale will be this monday (the 8th) at around 5pm EST if all goes right. You'll only need post the correct phrase (which will be announced when the flatsale opens). The first four people to do this will get a blossom. If they fail to send payment in the 6 hours after the flatsale, their blossom will go to the first person that wants it.

Phrase to post to claim a blossom (with correct capitalization, phrasing, and italics): RUN! JUMP! PLAY! Live life in the spring when the plants are in bloom.

All the blossoms look alike and the Oinari kits inside them will be random. If there are rare blossoms, those will be auctioned.

Flatsale - March 8th @ 5pm EST
Auaction - none yet
