Moving the previous entries here to make room for other stuff above...

Dear Journal,

Well, I am finally home from my vacation!

The strangest thing happened to me on my way in the door, I happened to look down at just the right moment to see the sun catch in its rays the most beautiful stone. Someone must have slipped it beneath my door while I was away.

It looks like a blue opal, long my favourite type of stone, and what an appropriate gift! Long have I saught a blue opal of my own, for those which i have are ones borrowed from friends in the way of the light, ones bronzey knows...

She will be quite pleased to have one at long last, my twin. She is out at a meeting right now, which has left me some time alone with this wonderful gift. Although I am not the mystical one of the two of us, even I can sense that this stone is no mere stone, and I felt compelled to expose it to some stimulus to see if my hunch is correct about it.

First, I tried placing the stone on a few household objects.
1) the television
2) the laptop
3) the microwave
4) the stove
5) a book
6) a radio
7) my bedside table
cool the coffee table in the main room

Following that, I thought perhaps exposing the opal to some different kinds of music would be fun.
1) Chopin
2) Mozart
3) Tori Amos
4) Enya
5) Evanesence
6) Linkin Park
7) Black Eyed Peas
cool Simple Plan

And as fun as those experiments were, I didnt want to overwhelm the stone with stimuli...its funny, I am already thinking of my opal as more than just a stone, meanwhile, all I have is just the barest inkling that my opal is not some dead object.

But, I embrace this odd feeling in myself despite my unfamiliarity with such things. Mayhaps bronzey will have some more insight when she returns home.

Well, the responses to the stimuli were certainly interesting!

My hints from the blue opal was leading me towards more social things, rooms where company could be found. and yet, and yet, the opal seemed to respond positively to small, private areas as well. I am very reassured to find actually that the stove was hated, as I hate it myself.

I have never been an able cook. the microwave is about all i can manage on the best of days. but my favourite things were not disliked, namely being beside my bed, my book and my laptop. i felt a surge of love from the stone when placed on the book, and i have to admit it gave me quite a thrill! imagine, me, the "non-emotive" one being able to discern the nudges of a stone!

i am careful now to play music that I know the stone appreciates. mozart is close to my heart, and its a pleasure for me to have it echoing throughout the house for us both.

its funny, noticing the reactions to the things makes me feel compelled to name my stone...and i hesitate to admit this but, i have this feeling about the stone that makes me think its female. isnt that weird?

so i went ahead and named the stone, Silasarn. it means stone of shining white light. I think thats a pretty appropriate name for a stone that not only reacts to things by sending feelings coursing through my body (at least, i assume its Silasarn who is sending the feelings...they eminate from wherever Silasarn is touching me at the time).

in any case, as i said before, i dont want to overstimulate her, but i plan tomorrow to take her around other people, see how she reacts to different emotions.

in the meantime, i plan to set her on my favourite book, on my bedside table, and relax listening to my mozart cds. ahhh this is the life smile

So, here Silasarn and I are at work, and so far we have come across people who were experiencing the following emotions (just as a reminder, I work at a welfare office)...

-sadness
-happiness
-exultation
-gratitude
-anger
-violent urges
-depression
-contentment
-hilarity at jokes

It's always an interesting time at my work, and I wonder what Silasarn will make of all these conflicting emotions from different sources, clients and co-workers.

Another test for my wonderful Silasarn...
I have exposed her to some of my wonderful gaian friends who have different .... well lets just say not all are human.

-a persocom
-an elf
-a fox-person
-a cat-person
-a gryphon
-and last but not least, an angel living on gaia

myself, I'm not completely human either...but thats a different story for a different day wink

The whispers of the stone are calling to me....it has not been formally introduced, but i know that it is there.

I make my way into the bedroom slowly, following the calling of this new being, this Silasarn, which has so captivated my bronzed. As my dress brushes against my slim legs, I cannot help but wonder what about our lives will change now that this stone has become the center of our world.

There it is, upon the table by the bed, surrounded by the things bronzed loves so much. Laptop on one side, a book by Orson Scott Card beneath her, and bronzed dreaming away before her. I can almost see the contentment shining on bronzed's body as she sleeps, no doubt envisioning her wonderful consort.

This peaceful scene fills me with such love for my bronzed, I cannot help but come closer to her, and sit on the bed beside her. I know she senses my presence for her body curls around my back, as an aligator moves immediately to the warmth. Not viscious, no, exultant rather, but the potential is always there, as it is in all creatures.

My hand reaches out slowly, hesitantly. I do not want the stone to become disturbed, but I cannot simply admire it from here. I must touch it, and so, pick it up.

Suddenly I am filled with the visions which visit me from time to time, I never know until later if they are true, from the past or the future, or even from another plane. But i know well enough what I am seeing now.

A lovely child peers at me through a small, round pane of glass. Her perfectly formed ears wiggle with seeming excitement, her skin glowing, giving off a light which shimmers and changes as the sun strikes it from different places. A small grin flashes across her face, and her eyes open. It is then that I see the marvel of my lifetime - her eyes are as Silasarn is today. Oval, irridescent, changing, and stunning. They have no pupil and at first I believe the child to be blind, but after a time, I know she sees simply a different way than most.

Her hair, short, and very smartly cut, frames her lovely heartshaped face, before, swings freely as she laughs aloud, her voice the sound of bells ringing. As she closes the shutter and pulls away, the vision leaves me, and I am back in bronzed's room, Silasarn sitting back atop the book as though I never touched her.

I know that it was her I saw, of course. But despite her loveliness, beauty and mirth, something in that vision disturbs me deeply, and I know that all is not as it seems.

And so, I do the only thing I can. I wrap myself around my bronzed, and become one with her again, hiding the memory of what I saw from her, and choosing for a while, to travel with her, instead of experience my own form of life.

(( An OOC note about bronzey:

Here is how I described her to Lizzy, just so the explanation is not missed:

she could be anyones mommy who asks her nicely shes the motherly, loving, caring, earthy side of bronzed, but she is also a person of her own. so she can separate from bronzed when the worries of the world have become too much, but will rejoin her when her perfect vision sees something that is too disturbing. when separate, she is a complete person, visible by others, can interact with many levels -spirits and earthbound creatures both- but at the sign of anything truely unplesant, she immediately recoils and retreats to the safety of bronzed, who is the worldly one, and can handle the truth of the world...if that makes sense

Hope that clears up any confusion! ))

Here is a summary of what I know Silasarn likes/dislikes so far, I am compiling the list in the hopes of being able to discern more things she loves, I will continue to add to this list as more tests are done:

household:
the television -liked
the laptop -liked
the microwave -liked
the stove -hated
a book -liked
a radio -disliked
my bedside table -loved
the coffee table in the main room -loved

She seems to like most modern technology, things that make life easier or more plesant. things that require work or simply provide background noise however, she didnt appreciate.

she also seems to enjoy being in a private room or public room with me, so perhaps she just appreciates my company? either way im glad she seems happy with me in the rooms of my humble home.

music wrote:
Chopin -disliked
Mozart -loved
Tori Amos -liked
Enya -disliked
Evanesence -liked
Linkin Park -hated
Black Eyed Peas -disliked
Simple Plan -liked

Sila really seems to like music that is passionate, but dislike music with anger involved, or that could be used to amuse people while they travel in elevators or are sitting in the dentist's office. she didnt like the rapish music either, but i cannot say that surprised me much.

emotions wrote:
sadness -disliked
happiness- loved
exultation- liked
gratitude- liked
anger- disliked
violent urges- hated
depression-disliked
contentment- loved
hilarity at jokes-likes

Definately some strong reactions here! Sila certainly prefers positive emotions, and those which involve anger she especially dislikes. She is a stone after my own heart!

humanoids:
a persocom- disliked
an elf- disliked
a fox-person -liked
a cat-person -liked
a gryphon- disliked
an angel living on gaia- loved

Sila seems to prefer animal related humanoids, but disliked a true animal, perhaps its propensity for violence was what she didnt appreciate. Strangely she didnt like the persocom, which I thought she might considering she has a fondness for some modern gadgets, but perhaps since persocoms weren't exactly created to make things easier around the house, she might be confused by them? Not surprised that she liked the angel, she seems to be a sucker for all things good smile

stories test:
-Fantasy - loved
-Horror -disliked
-Science Fiction -liked
-Biography -disliked
-Historical Fiction (ancient histories) -loved
-Historical Fiction (recent history related) -liked
-Comedy -liked
-Drama - disliked
-Romance -loved
-Mystical Tales -liked

This test was, I'll admit, done with a purpose, so that I would know what kinds of books to read to her as a child. I am thrilled that she loves both fantasy and ancient historical fiction, as those are my personal favourites! I already have many of those around the house, and I can only hope she will someday love each one of them, as I do. I think her likes reflect an openness to many different genres, which will serve her well in life. Not surprised she disliked the dramas (too much negativity, methinks), or the biographies (a bit boring for even the most interested reader). Sila has great taste!

Movie results:
-Documentary -disliked
-Emotional Drama -disliked
-Comedic Drama - liked
-Plays in Movie Form -loved
-Fantastical Adventures (ie. The neverending story, LOTR) - disliked
-Armageddon/End of the World Speculation Stories -liked
-Mysteries -loved

Another test for the purposes of treating Sila as a child, and true to form, she enjoyed the ones I thought she would with two exceptions: the fantastical and armageddon results were the reverse of what I thought they would be, so clearly, Sila likes to keep me guessing.

Types of animals:
-Dogs (Small) - loved
-Dogs (Large) - liked
-Horses - loved
-Cats - didn't care much
-Bunnies - loved
-Foxes - hated
-Wolves - didn't care much
-Sheep - liked
-Birds - loved

Ahhh my favourites, animals! I'm so glad to see how many of these she liked or loved! There are many animals in my family, although most live on my second property, farmland on the outskirts of Gaia. I'm glad she enjoyed the domesticated animals, as those are the majority of the type of animals I own, and its alright she didnt care much for cats, as I have so many felis, each one as different from the other as the sun is from the moon, she will find at least one she can tolerate. I'm intrigued by her dislike of wild animals, I wonder if its because they too can become violent, predatory.

Times of the day:
-bright morning sunlight- loved
-fresh air- liked
-the park- liked
-sunset- liked
-twilight- didn't care much
-evenings cool air- didn't care much
-returning home after time spent away- liked

Sila is obviously a morning person, who likes fresh air, and naturey places. I'll have to do more investigation of what kinds of places she likes!

Times of the day 2:
-watching the sunrise while waiting for the train -likes
-riding a packed, full to the brim train full of commuters downtown -dislikes
-having a plesant and not at all busy morning at work -likes
-exploring the food court at lunch - likes
-relaxing in the lounge on 2nd floor -dislikes
-becoming ill (me) and needing to leave -hated
-riding an almost empty train home -loved
-waiting in the van for bronzey - hated
-finally getting home, and right into bed. -loved
This was quite a miserable day for me, but it absolutely warmed my heart that Sila was so displeased by my becoming ill, and so happy to return home with me again. Also, she dislikes busy places, and appreciated solitude. I must investigate this further as well.

Naphor walked in front of the house/apartment/etc.. and placed something on the front step.

Hello, My name is Naphor. I am giving you the perfect little teddy bear for you to play. When you are a child, I wish to be your friend. Thank you.

Poor Bronzed is sick, tucked into bed like the preverbial bug in a rug. I have given her some mint tea, a good bowl of chicken broth, and one of those bears which you can warm in the microwave and placed it on her chest. While she rests, it will fill her body with the wamth and smell of lavender to calm her coughing fits and relax her mind, for I know her head is hurting.

Not wanting to force Sila to experience the negativity of her illness, I decide that mayhaps it is time for this entity and I to do some bonding. We made our way out onto the front step, my eyes landed upon a bundle placed lovingly by a stranger to us both. Picking it up, I scan the note, and a feeling of love spreads from it into me, this gift was given with the purest of intentions, and I know Silasarn will enjoy it. Creeping back into the bedroom, I place it on the bedside table where our stone will be able to enjoy it despite her status as a stone.

Returning outside, I can feel the sun on my face, and immediately take Silasarn out of my pocket and hold her up to the sun so that she can feel the brightness and soak up the energy that Mother Sun gives us simply by rising in the morning.

We spend the day at the park, watching children play, parents care for their young, and I whisper to Silasarn about all of the fun we will have once she emerges.

When the day at last is done, we return slowly to the house, and enter in time to be present when bronzed wakens. Smiling, I place Silasarn into her cold hands, and press them gently. It is her turn now, and maybe somehow Silasarn will cure her ills.

Leaving the room I cannot help but concentrate on the feel of my feet on the cool hardwood floors beneath me. The smoothness reminds me of the ease with which Silisarn and I passed the day. This is the beginning of a great relationship, and I hope that this bond will be strong enough to survive the dark I glimpsed in our path ahead.

Ahhh, another wonderful day of exploration with Silasarn has passed, and I am left simply breathless with wonder by the things I have learned.

First things first, I must pick up where I left off, when I placed the bear with Silasarn for the night on Friday. The most peculiar thing happened, I turned my back for only a moment, as I was getting ready to tuck a sickly bronzed into bed, and when I looked back, Silasarn was glowing! Not super brightly, more like glow in the dark paint after a few hours in the dark, but enough for me to notice.

The rest of the weekend was spent taking care of my poor sick bronzed, helping her to recouperate inside and out in time to return to work today, but once she returned from work this evening I rushed to the Relic Center for some insight into Silasarns glowing. As we approached the building, she began to glow anew, almost as if she could sense my excitement!

When inside, we met Naphor almost at once, and finally I was able to thank him for the wonderful gift. And, he explained to me that the glowing was a sign of happiness, and I am certain it was the kindness of his gift that had Silasarn glowing on Friday night.

Another joy for me was seeing Silasarn's reaction when placed in our dear friend Lizzy's hand. She glowed strongly, but I am not sure if it was because of the feelings Lizzy has for bronzed and I, or the other way around. With any luck, it was something that went both ways.

In any event, I am so glad that I brought her by the center tonight, and I will be encouraging bronzed to stop by many more times as the days and weeks pass.

bronzey and I have been separate for a few days now, and I am feeling quite alone.

thats not a very good way to start a journal entry, but I have the flu, and the kind forgive the sick all their mistakes.

what news what news! how filled with pleasure I was to know that Silasarn had reacted positively to my dearest friend Lizzy. i am sad of course that I was not there to witness the great event, but when bronzey and I merged she showed me all that went on, and so it was like I had been there.

about 90% the same as being there, but always there is that 10% missing. most people never are able to see what goes on when they are not around, and it is a blessing to have that chance, but it still is never quite the same.

well enough of that.

although I went to work today, i really shouldnt have. i ended up having to leave early, at 3:30. took the train home and slept in the van at the station until bronzeys train came in 40 minutes after mine. im sitting in bed now, sipping some neo citran and wondering what life is like for Silasarn inside that stone. I mean, shes not in it, but she is it.

the whole concept of a being living within a stone is finally becoming a reality to me, after viewing bronzey's memories of meeting Naphor, it became so clear.

i worry however, that people may have to see bronzey and me together in the same room and then merge before they really understand that we are just two halves of the same whole. its just so hard to explain...

in any case, because i am so tired, and sick, and achey, here's todays test in point form..

-watching the sunrise while waiting for the train
-riding a packed, full to the brim train full of commuters downtown
-having a plesant and not at all busy morning at work
-exploring the food court at lunch
-relaxing in the lounge on 2nd floor
-becoming ill (me) and needing to leave
-riding an almost empty train home
-waiting in the van for bronzey
-finally getting home, and right into bed.

Today I decided to do some research on Opals so that I can better understand Silasarn...

-High quality opal is more valuable than diamond; up to $20,000 per carat.
-Opal is the October birthstone.
-Some people think the opal is bad luck when worn if it is not your birthstone. This is not true. The story was started by Sir Walter Scott in his novel Anne of Gierstein, in which the heroine of the novel has her life force caught in the beautiful opal she wears and she dies when the fire in the opal is extinguished.
-In ancient times opal was accepted as a symbol of faithfulness and confidence.
-The name "opal;" is derived from the Latin word opalus, meaning seeing jewel.
-The Arabs believed that opals fell from heaven in flashes of lightning, and that's how they received their fiery color.
-Opals are very powerful in ritual magic. Since a quality opal contains every color of every other birthstone, it can be used or charged with all the energies and powers of the other stones combined and can be used in place of any birthstone for spells, rituals or other magical needs. Opals have been linked to invisibility and astral projection. and have been used to recall past lives (each color supposedly represents a past life).
-It has reputed healing properties, especially to increase mental capacities such as creative imagination and other unused powers of the mind.
-Fire opals are often used in money rituals to draw funds to those who are in need, normally worn as a pendant on a gold necklace, one surrounded with 10 or 12 small diamonds is said to have excellent money drawing power.
-Black opals are the tools of choice for witches and magicians, who use them primarily to enhance their magical receptive or projection powers. Black opals worn near the heart on necklaces made of gold are said to ward off evil, protect one from the evil eye and protect travelers on journeys to far away lands. Opals have been ground up and used a magic potions to heal the body, ward off bad dreams, and used an energy enhancement tools.
-The white opal, when used in rituals on the full moon night, is said to bring the moon goddesses' powers to full fruition in the practitioner.
Archaeologist Louis Leakey found six thousand year old opal artifacts in a cave in Kenya!
-The Aztecs mined opal in South and Central America.
Opal was also treasured in the Middle Ages and was called ophthalmios, or "eye stone," due to a widespread belief that it was beneficial to eyesight. Blonde women wore opal necklaces to protect their hair from losing its color.
-A beautiful opal called the orphanus was set in the crown of the Holy Roman Emperor. It was described "as though pure white snow flashed and sparked with the color of bright ruddy wine, and was overcome by this radiance."
-Opals are also set in the crown jewels of France. Napoleon gave Josephine a beautiful opal with brilliant red flashed called "The burning of Troy," making her his He
-Opal has been described in medival times as a cure for diseases of the eye.
-Opal is given as a symbol of hope, happiness and truth.
-Black opal is regarded as an extremely lucky stone.

((fyi, although I call Silasarn a blue opal, the true name for her is a Black opal, as Blue opals do not exist, and black opals are blue in appearance most times))
