Name: Masahiro Nicknames: Hiro - though he has no problems being called (a) Hero by those who can't pronounce Japanese vowels correctly. Breed: Toyger Attached to: Alkaid. (He's completely up to the task of upgrading all the corrupted senshi, but Alkaid is his senshi.) Alignment: Negaverse Blood Type: A Fav. Food: Fugu sashimi - he likes to live dangerously (and it's tasty!) Hated Food: Cat food. Do not try to feed it to him. It will not end well. Hobbies: (Watching) Iaido: Hiro used to be an avid practitioner of iaido... back when he had a human form. These days, he's stuck as a cat and can't exactly swing a bokken in his paws. He's more than happy to sneak into a dojo and watch the humans, or even just watch it on tv or dvd. He finds it calming - unless he sees people getting things continuously wrong, in which case he is the worst sports commentator you've ever heard, dashing back and forth and hissing insults at the tv. Spying: Hiro loves to slink, to sneak, and to spy. Eavesdropping isn't that difficult when you're a cat - people ignore you, or don't think to check up on that high branch/beam/shelf before talking. He can pick up all sorts of interesting tidbits, though whether they end up being useful is another thing entirely. Hiro just likes to 'keep in practice' - or so is his excuse if caught. Meditation: Or so he claims. Hiro says he is looking for peace and serenity - even though peace is kind of boring. He likes to search out quiet places and meditate. Or is he simply catnapping? The world may never know... Virtues: Silence is Golden: Outside of battle or training [see Backseat Driver], Hiro is a mostly quiet cat. He feels no need to blabber on, so can be a soothing companion. He's also a great listener, if you want to spill your guts without having to worrying about any kind of advice coming back your way. If you receive nothing back but "hmm" and "I see", it's not that he's brushing you off. It's just that if Hiro has nothing useful to say, he says nothing. (Though if he likes you a lot, he might purr soothingly for you. Maybe.) Patience Is A...: With his mediation and his silence, Hiro has learned the art of patience. He can lie in wait for hours for prey to come along (either for the pouncing or the eavesdropping). He feels no rush if a sneaky plot of his has shown no results for the past few weeks - it'll come, just wait for it. Unless you are foolish enough to threaten his senshi, Hiro is a calm, collected cat. (Or unless you get him drunk, but that's another story for another time.) Dedicated: To his duties, to his plans, to his side - Hiro gives his all. He does not appreciate interference with his plans (he will cut you :< ), or any insinuations that he is doing less than his very best. He does not give up on his plots, unless ordered (from General+), even if they are going badly. He would need to be badly injured to consider withdrawing from a fight. Basically, he has a very strong sense of duty. And for one special person, dedication furthers into devotion - you Do Not Hurt His Alkaid. His senshi gets to treat him like an itty bitty kitty if she so wants, and is always his first and foremost concern. ( This can be played upon by others, as his Achilles Heel. ) * It is not a romantic devotion to Alkaid. Just a very strong bond because she is HIS senshi. Flaws: Backseat Driver: "You're leaving yourself open on your left! Watch out for that guy on your right! Dear god, your form is horrible, where on earth did you-!? You know what, get out of the way, I'll do it myself." -- Corrupted senshi, Lieutenants, Captains, no one is safe. He makes a TERRIBLE companion in a fight, always wanting to take over and do it himself. Yes, even though he's just a cat. Even outside of battle, you can count on him to point out what you're doing wrong, what you could be doing better, and oh my it's a miracle did you finally get something right? You have to be someone special to him to avoid this kind of feedback. Though then he'll be wanting to take over for entirely different reasons (to protect you). If you want to avoid his critique, simply approach him when he is "off-duty" - at those times, he is a quiet and peaceful cat. Small Cat Syndrome: "Let me at 'im! I can take 'em!" -- Hiro is a giant, ferocious tiger - just ask him! He doesn't notice his own limitations, and certainly has times when he forgets he is only a housecat. He talks big, acts big, and will generally take on more than he can actually handle. Part of it is ego, part of it is forgetting he cannot take human form, but he would totally try to face down an Eternal Senshi if one presented itself before him. And while he does have that useful Mau headlaser, it'd be like a good Guardian Cat trying to take on Tanzanite - it won't end well for Hiro. Rough & Tumble: It's rather obvious that Hiro considers himself more of a warrior than a politician, as he's all rough edges. Despite being quite calm most of the time, he's not a well-mannered cat. His mode of speech is direct and often comes off as disrespectful, he doesn't see the point in flattery, and if he doesn't view you as his superior he won't treat you like one, no matter your rank. He actually does have a decent sense of self-preservation, it just kicks in a bit late... He takes back what he said about Edward, Apatite, he's really, really sorry and he'll never say it again oh god don't kill him...Challenge: To search and destroy!

~ HIS Senshi. Do Not Touch ~
ALKAID
His precious, his charge, his human. Alkaid is a warm and guiding light for Hiro. He hasn't partnered other senshi before, but there is something even more special about Alkaid than just ebing his first senshi charge... like their partnership was meant to be.
Do not mess with his senshi. He will hurt you :<
Also, she gives good scritches and makes good breakfast and is comfy to sleep on next to.
Hiro lives with Kaia - Alkaid's new civilian identity- who is rooming with Khal. (Hiro isn't sure what he thinks about Khal, as they have yet to meet.) Kaia and Hiro sleep on the couch, which Hiro thinks has to change soon. Who leaves a lady to sleep on the couch!?

~ And Those Other Senshi He Looks After, Too ~
Lyra/Ammolite/Sabine: Newly corrupted, and Hiro's first senshi to send Eternal. She seems very sweet and shows the proper amount of respect to Hiro (Master Hiro!). He's looking forward to working with her.
Alunite: Hiro's most clueless student. It's okay, Alunite, somehow Hiro will make a man senshi out of you.
~ And Other Mauvians, Who May Or May Not Be On His Side ~
Caine: The first cat of the Negaverse. MIA. Hiro has never met him, only heard rumours.
Grendel: Another MIA cat of the Negaverse. Hiro is not impressed with these first two cats :<
Dahlia: A recently-awakened/corrupted Mauvian. The first 'help' Hiro has in his mission as a Guardian Cat for the corrupted senshi. Hiro hopes she can be more useful than her delicate fancy-breed appearance suggests...

~ Other People He Knows ~
Painite: A Lieutenant turned Captain, the first Negaverse officer Hiro met in Destiny City. She takes direction well, is very enthusiastic, and even though she seems to think Hiro is a cutesy kitty she also gives very good ear scritches. So he's kind of adopted her, despite her not being a senshi. His scritcher, not yours!
Fluorite: Another Lieutenant that Hiro met early on. Shows great promise, though she has to learn not to over-reach herself to the point where she's drained. He'd like to meet her again, she seemed intelligent enough to be taught.
Tanzanite: A suprisingly good scritcher (with the Arm, even!). And someone who loves Hiro's senshi almost as much as he does. Hiro also sees Tanz as the most active - and approachable - leader of Destiny City's Negaverse. How can Hiro not approve?
Ilmenite / Ever: The human who dares to live with one of Hiro's senshi, Ammolite. Ever won Hiro's grudging acceptance, mostly due to the male not being involved with Ammolite and being a gentleman. Though he clearly has no respect for cats, catching Hiro in a headlock! ... His scritches weren't terrible, though... Hiro may have to make another visit. But only to catch up with Ammolite, of course!
Zinkenite: The General who is assisting Hiro in selecting targets for Operation Infiltration. Very smart, for a human. Quite tolerable to work with.

The world was called Myl'eao, and its greatest kingdom was Shuk Djal. The kingdom, nestled between the two lesser kingdoms of Verai and Ushuk Aem, was awe-inspiring, not for its militaristic power, but for the sake of the balance it struck with the world. Its advances in both the technological and arcane arts made it a force that the other countries could not compete with- and, while this created a certain amount of tension between it and the rest of the world, it also gave Shuk Djal the authority to keep the peace both inside and outside its borders. Shuk Djal was to the world as the beam was to a scale- without it, everything would fall apart into chaos.
Of course, it goes without saying that a country of such power had its enemies. Those who envied its greatness or coveted its strength were plentiful, but it wasn't until the kingdom of Verai had fallen prey to an unexpected palace coup that this dissent was given the shape and form of an army.
War was declared in earnest, and the soldiers of the new order of Verai marched for the land of their neighboring kingdom. Shuk Djal had had very little formal army assembled in that previous time of peace, merely pockets of soldiers to bring in for domestic problems; with their vast population, they could have no doubt raised a legion of willing fighters within days, but the inexperience of their troops would have still risked their downfall. Fortunately, Shuk Djal had a far greater defense than spilling the blood of enemies.
There were six stones- each stone was a shard of a greater stone, connected by perfect angles. Their colors did not vary, but were a perfectly uniform grey-black. Upon seeing one of these stones, about the size of a head, there would be no reason to speculate that there was anything especially unusual about them; not until they were taken from each other and exposed to a certain type of magic would their supernatural properties be revealed. Each stone was linked in perfect harmony to one another, and when all six were magically charged, they produced a dome-like shield that protected all that lay between them. This shield could be controlled only by one of the stones, opened only at the behest of one with control over one of the artifacts.
When Verai's armies arrived at the kingdom of Shuk Djal, the doors were effectively closed; solid to the touch, the shield held strong against the attempts of the soldiers to break past it. Persistant as they were, Verai set up camps along the border of Shuk Djal, waiting for the day that the shield would drop. Agents were sent by sea around Shuk Djal into Ushuk Aem, where they made their way into the enemy country and sought to sabatoge the stones and somehow gain control of the shield; ever vigilant, Shuk Djal defended itself against these lowhanded attacks as well as it could.
It was not quite good enough, though. Many years after the beginning of this so-far-bloodless war, one of the stones was critically damaged in a sabatoge attempt; the shield weakened, but did not quite drop. The armies waiting on the lands of Verai had grown, and the armies of Shuk Djal were still weak in comparison. An all-out war would not go well for the great country. After long deliberations, it was determined that the only option was to remove the shield and bring the damaged stone to one of the others and magically restore it to the shape of its brother, and then return it to its place and put up the shield before too many lives could be lost while Shuk Djal's army warded off the soldiers of Verai.
A small team was chosen for the mission- small, because they would have to travel in absolute secrecy. It was the dead of night when the shield dropped and the armies of Verai stirred- Shuk Djal took the initiative on the attack, and in the first spilled blood of combat, the unit of four soldiers that retreated from the scene with the damaged stone aboard a hovering caravan were completely unnoticed.
The four soldiers- known as the "Cwn Annwn"- travelled under spells of non-detection and cloaking devices; they stopped at no town for rest, and never laid foot on a road for fear of being spotted. Making their way cross-country towards the nearest stone, they knew full well the responsibility that weighed upon their shoulders and the need for haste. Their journey would take three weeks to and three weeks from their destination, barring any obstacles.
From here, we can only speculate what went wrong. One day, the soldiers were still believed to be in transit, perhaps three days from their destination... then next day, the damaged stone was sold off to Verai. The fates of the four soldiers were discovered within a few days- their bodies still littered the ground around the caravan, not even having been given a proper burial by their killers.
Shuk Djal fell within half a year, and with the greatest country under their control, Verai continued to build its empire across Myl'eao.
***
The souls of the Cwn Annwn, having failed their country and king and kinsmen, were banished into Limbo, never to taste any true afterlife that they might have thought to have earned. An indeterminate amount of time later, however, these four souls were found missing from the void and brought to Gaia, where they were manifested in the form of the four Disgraces babies.
