Hello everyone. biggrin

I have a book review blog, notesfromthebookshelf if anyone is interested. I review mostly scifi/fantasy books, but also the occasional historical mystery or classic. You just might find something new to read. wink

I just skimmed your site and I agree it is quite interesting. When I cam across it, your review of the Christopher Golden book caught my attention. I have read a book of his before, The Gathering Dark, and it is one of my favorite books. Have you read anything else by him or just the one book that you didn't care too much for? I had actually forgotten all about the other and didn't realize The Gathering Dark was part of a series until your review reminded me of the author and I looked into him a little bit more.

Are you not willing to give the author another chance or just the books in that series? A lot of the time I find even though a book can be written by the same author, the quality of a book can vary from one to the next.

I also feel that the first book more often then not are the best in the series.

Thanks for checking it out! While there were things I didn't love about the first book in that series, I will most likely be giving him another chance. I'm not too quick to write off a particular author based on one book, unless I really can't stand it. I didn't love this one but I certainly didn't hate it. Sometimes I have a little trouble warming up to the characters in a first book, but by the second, I'm more into it. I have another book of his written with Amber Benson, Ghosts of Albion, and since you love The Gathering Dark so much, I'll just have to look into it.

And since you mention Ghosts of Albion I'll have to check it out if I can ever find it smile
I found out that The Gathering Dark is part of a series, so don't know if you want to start from the first one or not, so far I have only read that one in the series.

Sooo...I looked it up and The Gathering Dark is the fourth book in the Shadow Saga series. It's 7 books total according to goodreads.com. I'll check it out when I've got some room on my reading list.

Do you post your reviews on Goodreads? Because it would be so much easier to follow them - I go there a lot.

I don't post them there currently, mostly because the way I write them doesn't seem to fit Goodreads as well as it does a blog. I'd have to make adjustments and I just feel like I would be lost in a sea of reviews there.

Ok, I'll try to follow your blog then. I haven't had much time to look into it, but already I see you have some interesting suggestions.

Your site is very interesting. If I ever find time to look for another book in Books-A-Million or used book store, I will be sure to look few for that caught my attention. As much as I love reading, I am hold off on buying more to keep the box from getting to heavy. xd

Thanks! I'm glad you found a few new books to read. When it comes to books I have a tendency to take a few too many home with me. It seems you have more self control than I do. sweatdrop

I tend to be a very picky person. It is not that I want to bring home more books than I could carry in a single bag, but it is just that I no longer have an book shelf to place them on. Before her passing from cancer, my mom and I used to read each others' books. She is partially responsible for this habit.

As a writer, I tend to use educational books for some background.

I see. I'm starting to run out of room myself, so I'm learning to be picky. Sorry about your mom.
