The weather situation on this planet was getting out of hand. Lovas had only been here for a handful of moon phases, but he was starting to understand that every single shift in atmospheric conditions was doomed to be uncomfortable. Freezing and slippery, or cloudy and blustery, or more recently, hot and sunny- his least favorite (he was told that it was strange to be so hot this early in the year, but Lovas would've found it uncomfortable at any point).

There were very few such shifts on his planet. Eternally dusky, with temperatures between chilly and freezing. Not the most hospitable, sure, but Lovas at least knew what he was getting each and every day. Here? Not so much.

The conditions of the day seemed to be wet and dark. It wasn't the first time it had rained since he'd come to Earth, but he did consider it the most bizarre occurrence. He couldn't remember a time it had rained even once on his planet. At least, not while he was in the presence of it. And not anywhere he'd seen evidence of, either. There was very little wet at all, on Lovas. Minimal vegetation, no liquid pockets in the earth, and air so arid that his people had developed physical traits to avoid the necessity of drinking anything at all.

And here, water just fell out of the sky at seemingly random intervals.

Lovas had been out and about, as was his norm- there was much to see and experience on this planet, and he could do that while keeping his senses open for whatever putrid, vile poison needed to be eradicated. His 'patrol' had started dark and windy, but dry (mostly- it was only damp enough in the air to frazzle his curls). But by the time he'd made it far enough to be inconvenient to trek back home, the rain had started to fall. First in tiny, sparse droplets.

And then torrentially. Quick and heavy in thick, fat droplets that made it hard to see more than a few paces ahead. Lovas sought what cover he could beneath the sweeping, albeit mostly winter-bald, branches of one of the many great trees in one of Destiny City's many parks. Since it was such an unusual phenomenon for him, maybe he should simply... sit and wait it out. It didn't seem to want him to leave, if making it difficult to see or hear was any indication.

The rain was actually what drew Haik out today.

There was at least one other reason, though—the vague sense of responsibility he still tied to patrolling. Even if there were more and more days between his patrols, there was still a small part of him that understood that he probably shouldn't let go of his entire identity. It was tempting, though. Very tempting, the more time he spent on Earth, and the more he tried to blend in and have some semblance of a "normal" life.

Whatever that was meant to look like, he was at least certain the hundreds of years he spent alone on his planet was not it.

And maybe life here on Earth, with Jishui, was.

Which was kind of funny since neither of them are actually from Earth...

In any case! The rain had drawn him out today. Of all the types of weather he'd experienced since arriving, rain was decidedly his favorite. Haik, as a planet, was primarily water so he had zero issues with getting wet and staying wet. In fact, there was a big part of him that sorely missed swimming or otherwise spending time completely submerged in a body of water. This was...well, not a close second but it was at least better than dry.

The senshi kept a steady, comfortable pace for his patrol through the torrential downpour. Sensing an energy signature at some point after walking into one of DC's many parks, he adjusted his path and eventually spotted someone taking shelter. Or trying to, at least. Grinning, he bounded over and, when he was certain he was within earshot, tried to call out.

"Oy! You okay?"

Though for all he knew the rain had completely drowned out his voice.

That there was a warm energy signature nearby immediately brightened Lovas' mood, despite the dark, foggy, wet atmosphere. He turned toward the voice, and... well, he wasn't sure he could identify anything non-human about the other Senshi by squinting through the rain, so he greeted them as he would any other he'd met.

"Yes!" He called back, voice low and booming like the thunder that rippled through the air around them intermittently. "Perfectly okay! But this phenomenon is so strange to me. It probably rained on my world... once every few years or so? And that was before the Chaos! Now? Almost never. But it rains all the time here! How can people put up with it being so wet for so long..." As if to punctuate its presence, a particularly fat rain drop fell from the branches above and landed squarely in the little divot beneath his eye. Lovas' huffed and recoiled, shaking his head to clear the wet away.

Nevermind the rain, there simply wasn't much water on his world to begin with. No pools, no fountains, no rivers, no puddles. His people had even grown the means to go without drinking anything at all for many, many months at a time.

It was a bit strange that such a necessary part of his biology on his world was so completely useless on this one.

Useless or maybe even a bit of a hindrance? Just another facial pocket for debris to find its way into. Lovas grumbled as he smeared a thumb as delicately as he could around the edges of the glands on his cheek, wiping wetness (and whatever it caught on the way down to him) away as best as he could.

"Years?!"

Surprise and disbelief blended together in the exclamation as Haik hurried to close the distance between them. He stayed just outside of the shelter, though, enjoying the rain far too much to shield himself from it now. The senshi's words had been enough of a giveaway, but certain details about him helped to solidify his understanding that he, too, was also not of earth.

"Sorry. Just, it's always raining and storming on the surface of my planet," he said, smiling broadly now. He was always more relaxed around other senshi like him. If not for that simple fact, it was unlikely he would have readily agreed to stay with Jishui.

"As far back as our recorded history goes, anyway. Our cities are all underwater as a result, and we evolved and adapted. With the chaos," he paused then, recollection darkening his iridescent eyes. What the chaos had done to his world and the creatures within, as well as to his people, had been something he chose to tuck away after coming here. For how long, he hadn't decided, but he was allowing himself the quiet indulgence of forgetting.

"Well. Now, basically no ship would survive on the surface for very long."

He slicked his hair back, contentment on his face as he did so. "Anyway, all that to say I guess my view's the opposite from yours—I kinda wished it rained more. It's mainly just one part of the year when it does rain a lot, and the rest of the time it's dry. Makes me wish I had a pool of my own. I'd find a way to maintain it so I wouldn't have to use all the chemicals humans seem to like putting in theirs."
