The Meteor Shower (3) : It wouldn't be a star festival without a meteor shower! Right on time, a beautiful array of shooting stars graces the night sky. This time of year is unnaturally clear and it's incredibly easy to see the stars. Most meteor fragments appear to be little white or yellow lights streaming across the sky, but if you watch closely enough you may find that some of them seem to be a whole rainbow of colors. The scientists have reported that it's just different components burning up as they enter the atmosphere, but there's something undeniably magical about it.

"You are being unkind, Devour," Rakovanite uttered, dark gaze trailing after his bonded Youma as she teased the night's victim with her uncanny abilities. He couldn't say what visions Devour inspired in the young man she preyed upon, but the civilian's face was twisted in such plain, silent agony that Rakovanite could hazard a few guesses, having been on the receiving end of her magic before.

She barely minded his scolding, only riffling off a cascade of gentle ticks with her many legs that Rakovanite innately understood as some kind of mocking.

There were no words that passed between them; Devour wasn't capable of such, but he distinctly had the impression of 'Her? Unkind?' that blossomed as a sensation in his chest. 'Wasn't he one to talk.' And then the black-pointed tip of a nail was drilling into the civilian's sternum. She did not need to draw blood to collect starseeds to consume, but Rakovanite rarely begrudged her her indulgences. Youma seemed to want for so little.

It was just unfortunate the mess Devour left in her wake. A bit of blood here or there wasn't much of a problem, but it was occasionally more conspicuous than that. Bits and pieces of her victims or a full carcass. Or rarely, a blubbering mess of a person, frightened and traumatized and perfect for her to play with another time.

Devour beamed in his direction, all pointed, yellow teeth and very pleased with Rakovanite for his vast understanding of her whims.

He dismissed her attention with a little huff and a flick of his fingers. She'd best hurry along with what she wanted to do. There were others out that might see fit to interrupt a Youma's endeavors on such an otherwise peaceful and resplendent night as this.

There was that icky feeling again. Winters didn’t know why she was moving towards it, especially since it felt particularly…bad this time.

The sky was lovely though. Rainbow flashes of shooting stars…magical. She had found a Star Charm too, a gold one that felt so fancy. The stripe in her hair was blue now, for the summer, and it kind of clashed with her magical outfit but that was fine.

What wasn’t fine was the sight that met her eyes and she stopped short. “...You…What….what did you do?” All the bravado that she held. All of the excitement for being magical and powerful and awesome…

This was a literal murder. This was…horrifying.

…And she wished that she wasn’t alone…and now that she was thinking about it, she wished she just hadn’t said anything and simply ran.

Orangeish Sherbert
Appearance: The top half of a young woman with long dark hair, attached to a centipede’s body. Devour has dark grey skin and very vibrant red eyes with black sclera. She has jagged, shark-like teeth, and a very long tongue. Her centipede half is mostly dark, ranging from black to red-brown, but it is littered in phosphorescent spots that can flash in an array of neon colors. She is skinny and silent, with a brittle carapace and easily-snapped legs.

Ability: Devour is a mute, with the only thing that gives her away being the scuttling of dozens of legs. The tips of her feet clicking, and the pattern of flashing lights on her body are capable of triggering brief, five second hallucinations. They affect people in different ways, but some people (Rakovanite included) find this very immersive.

The aura of some meager Order Senshi drew near, yet its sensation registered only as secondary to Rakovanite. The very forefront of his notice was completely stormed by Devour's own emotions, thrumming with an impatient eagerness through her strange communication. He felt what she wished him to feel: 'It is near, it is near, it is near. It seeks us.'

And wasn't that unfortunate- and a bit foolish.

Rakovanite's own aura was not hidden in any capacity. A well-informed Senshi of this one's level should've gone to great lengths to avoid him. Unless she was stupid. Or hiding a trick of her own. He'd barely had the thought before Devour's skittering figure was coiling behind him, long fingers brushing his shoulders as she leaned her face close to his ear, for all the good it could do.She sought for his thoughts and injected him with her own. 'You think it is... deceitful?'

Rakovanite's head canted a bit, gazing impassively at the... quite young girl that had appeared before them. "It is possible," he murmured in response to Devour's concerns.

And he was graced with... such indignation from his bonded Youma. 'The creature thinks to trick Devour. The creature thinks itself better. The creature thinks itself capable. It is barely even a speck of dust.' Rakovanite couldn't say if 'speck of dust' was better or more lowly than the human Devour had been tormenting- 'Lowlier.'

Yes, of course. Lowlier. A human was a treat and a snack and a plaything bundled up into a whimpering mass of flesh. A Senshi was dirt beneath Devour's many legs.

"Well, get rid of it, if it offends you so."

She barely needed to be told, any sensation of acceptance for her actions came quicker than Rakovanite could get the words out of his mouth. Devour skittered from behind him, and the great chorus of clicks from her many, centipede-like legs coupled with a very intricate flashing display or the soft, glowing patches on her body was very distracting, if nothing else.

Winters didn’t know what to say. Didn’t know what to do and when a literal monster started coming towards her. “I…I…”

Oh. What did she do in this situation? It was a giant bug. A bug coming to what…to eat her? OH god. Oh God.

“What the ******** is going on, why did you kill that guy, why didn’t I bring bug spray and why is this happening to me?”

Running was still an option, she supposed, but something was wrong between her head and her limbs and they simply…weren’t working. She was frozen with fear. Frozen with indecision. And she looked at the man who seemed to be in charge of the bug with horror. “I don’t…like….bugs. Please?”

It was weak. She felt weak, and as she sank to her knees, she could at least pick up a small rock, throwing it with trembling hands as though it might fend off the creature.
