Medicine Cat
    ⤷ Medicine cats act as the healers of both body and mind.
    ⤷ While some still claim to see visions and get guidance, this holds less weight than it once did due to unreliability or liars over the years.
    ⤷ This is still a highly respected position and they often act as a second advisor to the leader if asked.

Colony Information

✦ Colonies are basically the catch all for any group of cats that do not follow the Warrior code or otherwise fit the clan style.
✦ They vary widely with their own cultures, values, and identities.
✦ They don't hold any overarching connections, diplomacy or identities like all clans do with each other.
✦ They can and do make connections or things with other colonies, but there is no default you are part of the colony club meetings like the once a moon meetings clans have with each other.
✦ Their ruling styles, ranks, titles, roles, and lifestyles in general allow for very interesting and diverse options for cats.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

Colony Roles

These roles will vary greatly between most colonies as they shift to fit their lifestyle, culture, and whatnot. Though most will follow this general role structure.

Leader(s)
    ⤷ The one(s) the leads the colony. Shaping, guiding, or otherwise in charge of the colony functions.

Heir or Second
    ⤷ Typically one that acts much like a deputy in clans or is otherwise marked to be the one that inherits the colony leader position in the case of death or retirement.

Medicine or Advisory
    ⤷ One or more that are respected and act as advisors to leadership and or the care of the cat within.

Members
    ⤷ The general rest of the colony members. Doesn't have to be but will often segment at least by elder, mature, and kits for what they are expected to do.

· · ─ ·✶· ─ · ·

Making Clans & Colonies
-ask blinded if its okay if i use their clan/colony form as a base for my own OR just make my own thing-

The only difference in creating the two is just that clans are more restrictive due to having to follow the code and general clan structure. Both can still have many differences and cultures but Clans follow the Warrior code and have an existing template they base their uniqueness around.

Requirements
✦ Users can own 2 clan/colony leaders at a time.
✦ Defined Leader.
✦ Deputy/Heir Defined- The one that takes leader's place if they die/retire.
✦ Have at least 5 members.
✦ Explain their culture
✦ Define their roles/ranks/titles (colonies)
✦ Explain their territory and camp
✦ (basically fill out the form details)

✦ Design or have idea for the clan/colony symbol
✦ Pick their Discipline
✦ Complete 1500+ words of RP total either by yourself, leader, or other members that relate to the clan/colony in any way.

Perks
✦ Chance at +1 kits in breedings.
✦ Pick their Discipline that all cats of that clan/colony will get in checks.
✦ CLAN: Participate in the Clan Gatherings.

considering
✦ possibility of a clan/group item or trait

Maintaining
✦ Maintain their clan's thread(s). Including maintaining leader den, request, and member list.
✦ If they are open to new members/outsiders joining then you are expected to respond withing 2 weeks of the application. (Doesn't have to be rp reply just accept or reject notification)
✦ (insert activity checking and inactivity handling)

Below are things that will help you know and understand how things work here and what to expect when it comes to customs.

Colorist Threads
✶ Every colorist will have their own thread where they open and closed their custom slot availability.

# Naming Guide

## General Naming Style

Names are generally simple, natural, and inspired by the world cats know. Most names are based on plants, animals, weather, colors, landscapes, physical traits, or other natural features.

The most common naming style is a **prefix + suffix** (such as *Brambleclaw* or *Frostpool*). This style is widely accepted among wild cats, though not every group follows the same traditions for using it.

Avoid names based on modern objects, technology, brands, fantasy creatures, or concepts that would be unfamiliar to a cat.

---

## Clan Cats

Clan cats follow the most structured naming traditions.

### Prefixes

A cat receives a prefix at birth that usually remains unchanged throughout their life.

### Rank Suffixes

Suffixes are tied to rank and are expected to follow Clan tradition.

* **Kits:** `-kit`
* **Apprentices:** `-paw`
* **Warriors & Medicine Cats:** Receive a unique suffix chosen when they earn their full name.
* **Leaders:** `-star`

Clan names should always follow the prefix + suffix format.

---

## Colonies

Colonies may establish their own naming customs.

Most colonies still use the traditional prefix + suffix style, though they are not required to follow Clan rank suffixes unless that is part of their colony's culture.

Each colony should have clear, consistent naming rules that fit the *Warriors* setting.

---

## Loners

Loners have the greatest freedom in naming.

They may have:

* A single-word name (Slate, Echo, Midnight)
* A prefix + suffix style name (Rainfall, Harefoot, Mosswing)
* A two-word name if it fits naturally

Loners may change or choose their own names throughout their lives.

---

## Kittypets

Kittypet names are chosen by Twolegs and may be almost anything.

They may be:

* Human names (Oliver, Bella)
* Pet names (Socks, Fluffy, Mittens)
* Food names (Pumpkin, Peaches)
* Nicknames or unusual names

Because Twolegs do the naming, kittypet names are not expected to follow the natural naming conventions used by wild cats.

# Naming Guide

## General Naming Style

A cat's name should reflect the culture and environment they were raised in.

Most wild cats use names inspired by nature, wildlife, weather, landscapes, colors, physical traits, or other concepts that would be familiar within the world they live in. Cats that grow up alongside Two-legs may instead have names influenced by humans, objects, places, or pets.

When creating a character, choose a name that fits both the setting and the cat's background.

---

## Clan Cats

Clan names must use the prefix + suffix format.

Both the prefix and suffix should fit the natural world and be things a wild cat could reasonably know or understand. Common sources of inspiration include:

* Plants and trees
* Animals and prey
* Birds and insects
* Weather and seasons
* Landscapes and natural landmarks
* Colors and patterns
* Physical features or abilities
* Natural materials (stone, moss, frost, etc.)
* Simple concepts or qualities familiar to cats

Examples include:

* Brambleclaw
* Frostpool
* Runningwind
* Brightheart
* Dapplefur

Names should avoid references to modern technology, brands, fictional characters, scientific terms, or other concepts outside a Clan cat's experience.

### Rank Suffixes

* **Kits:** `-kit`
* **Apprentices:** `-paw`
* **Warriors & Medicine Cats:** Receive an individual suffix upon earning their full name.
* **Leaders:** `-star`

The suffixes `-kit`, `-paw`, and `-star` are reserved exclusively for Clan cats.

### Joining a Clan

Cats from outside the Clans who choose to join are expected to adopt a Clan-appropriate name.

In lore, this name is traditionally given by the Clan's leader. For roleplay purposes, players may choose their character's new name themselves, provided it follows Clan naming rules.

---

## Colonies

Colonies are free to establish their own naming traditions.

A colony may:

* Use the traditional prefix + suffix format.
* Create its own suffixes or naming conventions.
* Restrict names to certain themes, lengths, or cultural traditions.
* Allow names inspired by their environment, including human settlements if appropriate.
* Develop unique naming ceremonies or customs.

Each colony should have clearly defined naming rules that are followed consistently by its members. Colony naming systems should fit the overall tone of the setting. Staff may decline naming systems that are excessively modern or otherwise out of place.

### Joining a Colony

Cats joining a colony are generally expected to follow that colony's naming traditions.

Whether a newcomer must change their name or may keep their original one is determined by the individual colony's customs. Colonies are encouraged to be more flexible than the Clans in this regard, provided their approach is clearly documented.

---

## Loners

Loners have the greatest freedom in naming.

They may have:

* A single-word name (Slate, Echo, Midnight)
* A prefix + suffix style name (Rainfall, Harefoot, Mosswing)
* A descriptive or two-word name
* A Twoleg-inspired name if they live around farms, towns, or other human settlements
* A former kittypet name if they once lived with Twolegs

Loners may rename themselves over time if they wish.

---

## Kittypets

Kittypets are named by Twolegs, so their names may be almost anything.

Common examples include:

* Human names
* Pet names
* Food names
* Nicknames
* Object names
* Humorous or affectionate names

Because they are chosen by humans rather than cats, kittypet names are not expected to follow any particular naming convention.

Absolutely. For a guide like this, I think it helps to show the **range** rather than just the "default." The goal is to teach players that names are influenced by **environment, upbringing, and culture**.

I'd organize examples by lifestyle rather than just giving random names:

---

# Clan Cat Naming Examples

Clan names are usually the most nature-focused. They should feel like something a cat living entirely in the wild would understand.

### Common Clan-Style Names

* Brambleclaw
* Frostfur
* Graystripe
* Sandstorm
* Oakheart
* Ravenwing
* Cloudtail
* Leafpool
* Stormcloud
* Brightheart
* Thornclaw
* Sootfur
* Ivypool
* Hollyleaf
* Willowbreeze

### More Wild / Natural Names

* Pinewhisker
* Birchfall
* Heatherstep
* Foxleap
* Mothflight
* Pebblefoot
* Rainflower
* Mistfeather
* Snowtuft
* Creekrunner
* Fernshade
* Cedarstorm
* Hollowbranch
* Wolfstep
* Duskflight

### More Abstract but Still Clan-Appropriate

* Hopeheart
* Braveheart
* Kindleaf
* Quietstep
* Gentleflight
* Swiftjustice *(borderline — better for a very specific culture)*
* Trueflight
* Honestpaw *(better as a colony name; less typical Clan)*

---

# Colony Cat Naming Examples

Colonies have the most room to develop their own identity. A colony's environment should influence their naming traditions.

## Nature-Based Colonies

(Closest to Clan traditions)

* Mosswing
* Creekstep
* Willowshade
* Brackenfall
* Thornbloom
* Riverstone
* Dawnpetal

## Barn / Farm Colonies

(Barn cats often live near humans but aren't owned pets)

Names may reference:

* farmland
* tools
* weather
* crops
* animals
* the barn itself

Examples:

* Hay
* Wheat
* Clover
* Rusty
* Copper
* Straw
* Thistle
* Fence
* Bale
* Harvest

* Creekbed
* Cornsilk

Prefix + suffix style:

* Hayfall
* Cloverleaf
* Rustwhisker
* Copperfur
* Wheatstalk
* Strawtail

## City / Urban Colonies

(Cats living among alleys, rooftops, streets, and human structures)

These cats may name things after their environment.

Examples:

* Brick

* Metro
* Rail
* Rust
* Puddle
* Neon *(more stylized)
* Glass
* Wire
* Smoke
* Concrete *(more extreme)

* Railstorm

A more poetic city style:

* Cityrain

Loners are the most individualistic. Their names often reflect:

* where they live
* how they see themselves
* something memorable about them
* their past

## Wild Loners

(Travelers, abandoned cats, cats living away from groups)

Single names:

* Ash
* Ember
* Slate

* Dusty
* Mouse
* Boots
* Fence
* Wheat

Street cats often have rougher, shorter names.

Examples:

* Scratch
* Scar
* Alley
* Brick
* Rust
* Smoke
* Trash
* Shadow
* Ghost
* Patch
* Stray
* Crow

More poetic:

These cats may keep their Twoleg names.

Examples:

* Oliver
* Charlie
* Max
* Luna
* Bella
* Daisy
* Pumpkin
* Mittens
* Socks
* Princess

They may also shorten or adapt them:

* Princess → Prin
* Theodore → Theo
* Sebastian → Seb

---

# Kittypet Naming Examples

Kittypets are named by humans, so their names can be much broader.

## Common Pet Names

* Bella
* Milo
* Luna
* Oliver
* Charlie
* Max
* Lily
* Daisy
* Lucy

## Cute / Food Names

* Pumpkin
* Cookie
* Muffin
* Peanut

* Shadow
* Midnight
* Smokey
* Tiger
* Fluffy
* Spot
* Socks
* Boots

## Human Names

* George
* Henry
* Rosie
* Emma
* Sophie
* Jack

## Silly Twoleg Names

(Especially pampered cats)

* Sir Fluffington
* Mr. Whiskers
* Princess
* Captain
* Professor
* Chairman Meow
* Pickles

---

# Quick Naming Philosophy

A good rule for players:

**Clan cats ask:**
*"What would a wild cat name this?"*

**Colonies ask:**
*"What does this group value or see around them?"*

**Loners ask:**
*"What name fits this cat's story?"*

**Kittypets ask:**
*"What would a Twoleg choose?"*

---

One thing I would avoid is making "city cats" automatically use human object names. The most believable city-cat names are often things cats would actually notice: **Brick, Rust, Alley, Rain, Smoke, Rail, Glass, Shadow, Puddle, Rooftop**. Cats don't need to understand the human purpose of something to name themselves after it—they just need to encounter it often enough that it becomes part of their world.

Clan & Colony
Creation

General Information
    Clans and Colonies are player-created groups that other cats may choose to join.

    While both are founded in the same way, Clans follow the Warrior Code and traditional Clan structure, while Colonies have complete freedom over their culture, leadership, and roles.

    Each group has two separate roles:

    Group Founder (OOC)
      ⤷ The player who created and manages the group.
      ⤷ Responsible for maintaining the group's records and thread(s).
      ⤷ Usually remains the Founder for the life of the group.

    Leader (IC)
      ⤷ The cat currently leading the group in roleplay.
      ⤷ Responsible for in-character decisions such as ceremonies, promotions, and leadership.
      ⤷ May change over time through roleplay.

    The Group Founder and Leader may be the same player, but they do not have to be.
