Quote:
The Calling ( 8 ) : A beautiful melody drifts on the air from somewhere far away. The vocals are in a language you don't quite recognize, but feel somehow familiar to you. Something about the song calls to you, but no matter where you go, the song seems to sound the same distance away. The longer it goes on, the more emotional the song becomes--and the more emotional you become. Something about the song is possessive and consuming, like it's all you can think of. Something resonates in you as the song crescendos, and the feeling is at its strongest--be they good, bad, anything, but suddenly the song fades, and there's only an emptiness inside of you. The feeling of loss is strong, and can leave someone feeling emotionally numb. Someone out there was calling to you, and you couldn't find them.

There was music in the air. Literally, music in the air, and Winters was distracted. She wanted to find out where it was coming from, and just what it was. It was beautiful. Haunting even. She was clearly pulling an Elsa from Frozen 2 right now but she didn’t even care.

Something about the song felt so familiar…and she needed to find where it was coming from.

As the song began to fade slightly, she broke into a run, stumbling on some uneven ground and finally just making it to a nearby park, as the last of the music ended.

There was someone there, but as Winters blinked, trying to clear her suddenly tear blurred eyes, she realized that someone had a feeling and.

“You? Why would you be calling me with a song?”

No, that was stupid. Clearly this older woman hadn’t been the music. It hadn’t been…a woman. Or, not just a woman. She didn’t know. And this was a very unsatisfactory option.

With the music in the air, you would think it was Christmas, but no, it was the Star festival, and Dz had a lot on her mind. She kept shifting back and forth with her thoughts and her issues. She still didn't even know if it was possible. It was also crazy to think about. She had chosen this way of life; why would she change her mind? She felt like she wanted to bang her head on a wall. She went in the direction of the music as if the music would have answers, which was dumb to think. She saw someone nearby, but she wasn't really thinking about who it might be or what side they were on.

She just went, and she figured she would deal with it when she needed to deal with it like she normally did. She frowned and blinked in confusion when she got where she was going and found nothing. "What the heck?" She finally looked around and sensed an order member. "I thought traps were our thing, not your thing." She said with her hands on her hips. She was really annoyed with the way things were going at the moment.

“Traps?” Winters blinked, face going blank with confusion. She looked around, expecting to see something. Rope or chains, something that would make a trap seem…logical but.

“I’m not following. I heard music. Followed it. Found you, and you’re accusing me of a trap?”

Well, the aura was bad, so maybe this woman was just…crazy. That made more sense than anything else and Winters scratched the back of her neck, wondering if she should leave or use her magic or just…keep pushing about the music thing.

It had felt so personal.

Dz's nature was one of being shrewd and she saw that in others there had to be an angle, right? But this person seemed as confused as she did by the music. "I heard the music too." She said honestly. She shrugged and then said, "But that dosen't mean it wasn't put here on purpose.." She said, thinking they had to have a reason.. Or maybe the reason wasn't from them at all. She looked around, and the feeling in her chest told her something wasn't right. She shook her head. "Well, I'm sorry I assumed it was you." She shrugged and then said "We aren't on the same side after all, can never be too careful, you might want to dust me like I was a youma after all." She said, smirking.

“Dust…you?” Okay, that made zero sense, and Winters frowned, crossing her arms over her chest as though that would help protect her from the whatever this woman was saying.

“What kind of a crazy lady are you? Dust you like…”

Bending down, Winters scratched at the ground, pulling up a small handful of dirt and threw it towards the woman. “Poof? Now you’re all dusty. And old, but I didn’t do that part.”

She wasn’t really sure what a youma was either but…that was fine. Focus on what you did know. It was easier that way.

Dz cocked her eyebrow and frowned, "Have you never fought one of the lower youma creatures? Or the giant chicken? Anything that, when you defeat it, turns to dust?" She paused, "Dust, you know, like killing something? How can you not know that as a saying?" She rolled her eyes. Was this senshi really that innocent that she had never hurt anyone or anything? "Come on, you can't tell me you are that innocent??!!" She sighed out a breath. It was weird; some of these people definitely acted like they would rather she be dead than allow her to live a life of chaos.

“I mean…I’m still…new?” Winters shrugged and kicked at a small rock, sulking for a moment or two. “I just keep running around because I’m trying to prove to my cousins that I don’t need their training and them to worry about me, because like. I’m magical. I literally have magic. It’s really cool. Sure there are some weird people out there but no…no youma creatures and…what giant chicken?”

She frowned at that and really was wondering if the woman was okay. “...Do you want to see my magic? It’s pretty cool. Kind of. Made my cousin cry and like. Shoot me with her weapon but…my other cousin liked it a lot. So…toss up, I suppose.”

Dz blinked yet again, "Ummm, do you not know that I'm a nega soldier? We are supposed to be enemies?" She frowned and sighed, "Wow, you are going to get yourself killed if you aren't careful. I'm Lieutenant Dzhalindite, and I guess my training is waay better than yours." She said, shaking her head. "But sure, show me your magic if you want to." It was amazing that this person was so sweet and trusting and it was funny since Dz's weapon was a tiny Christmas tree.

Shrugging again, Winters grinned. “You’re just a well dressed old lady who feels funny and is somewhat magical I’m assuming talking to a very well dressed magical fifteen year old who was following funky music that made me cry and is feeling all sorts of ways but. Yeah. Magic.”

Winters hesitated. “I’m Sailor Winters. Nce to meet you, but I’m not going to try to pronounce that name, sorry.” She would have held out a hand, but she was focused now and blew outwards, murmuring “It’s Tradition!”

She felt so pleased when the magic worked and the sparkles went for Dz and the ice began to form. “It shouldn’t hurt you!”

MiddyGlow
Winters blows outwards and a flurry of what looks like silver sparkles heads towards an opponent. At their feet, a small one foot in diameter patch of 'ice' appears. In the ice, visible only to the one who is affected by the magic will play memories of some sort of past tradition, good or bad. The memory will last for twenty seconds, and during which, the affected may feel some tingling in their extremities, as though they had been watching for a long time, longing for the memories, and their limbs have fallen asleep. Her magic can go no further than 10 feet and can be used twice.

She nodded, "Yeah, you really need to get with a mentor of your order so you live to see next week. If you met a General of my order, you would be toast. You can call me Dz, nega soldier names are often really long." This kid just made her kinda happy it was weird. Their music was beautiful, and it warmed her in a way. A way that would likely really upset the leader of her group. She held up her weapon. She was tempted to attack Winters with her weapon just to show her that she shouldn't trust so easily. Something stopped her as they stood there together.

Blinking in some confusion again, Winters took a step backwards. “Uh. Okay…So many words being thrown at her and the idea of needing a mentor was just. Ugh no thank you. She was fine on her own, she hadn’t had anything bad happen so far and she couldn’t see anything bad happening in the future.

“I guess…I’ll just go then, since you…yeah. Have a good night, Dz.”

Wrinkling her nose for a second, Winters turned on her heel and fled into the night. The music wasn’t worth this, though she wished she could have seen how her magic worked on the stranger. Maybe it hadn’t. Maybe it only worked on people she knew. That was…

Something to think about.

Later.
