The Caves (5) : To any explorers visiting the new Reservoir, they may find that just a bit away from the sandy water are a set of caves. Some of these connect back to the lake, but others rapidly plunge into darkness. It wouldn't be hard to get lost in here, but thankfully there are some very odd lights to help guide you out. If you turn off your light down some of these dark paths, you may find yourself surrounded by glowing pastel lights. A closer inspection reveals that you seem to be looking at some sort of glowing caterpillars. An internet search will reveal that Destiny City scientists have been researching the strange, unnamed creatures, but the articles are very limited. If you take them out of the cave they seem to shrivel up almost immediately. They're neat, but clearly meant to be stay in their natural habitat.
As the visits from the detectives grew less and less frequent, as they understood that their suspicions of him might be unfounded, Eles cautiously started to explore Destiny City as Faustite again. It had felt like an age since last he exchanged his anonymity for poorly remembered infamy and all the tumultuous stories it brewed. He hadn't needed any extra stories to bring home until recently.
Now he could be curious again. That insatiable inquisitiveness led him back to the reservoir, where he and Malory shared a cigarette and a drowning. He'd wondered about that thing in the deep — whether it was real or simply a piece of seaweed that his melodramatic fiance brushed with an ankle — but the logistics of it all gave him pause. Ditching pieces of uniform for the swim was well enough, but how was he to fight something underwater worth a damn if it came to that?
Faustite decided such an inconvenience was simply too much for the moment. Giving up on going into the water, Faustite thought he had better get a view in case someone had the good fortune to get pulled under in front of him. But as he searched the moonbathed beach, his attention caught on a faint glow nestled just beyond its perimeter. He approached at a purposeful clip as he considered how similar it looked to the glow of a starseed.
But, he learned as he reached the mouth of a cave, a starseed it was not. Glowing caterpillars had shown up, looking like abandoned cousins to fireflies. As he reached out to poke one with a gloved finger, he doubted they would be good pet material and they weren't much of a story to take home, either.
They might still have a use, however. Faustite gave one a sniff.

sorry that took a million years!
