Today, I took Rishid to the market with me. I was surprised- the noise and bright light didn't faze my kitten in the least. In fact, I swear he'll be a preener when he gets older. He loved the attention that he got from the people who saw him. Especially very small children, which is odd because cats usually dislike small children. Go figure.

Well, he turned out to be quite the looker. At least, I think so. Rishid grew the other day, during a ritual-like thing that this young woman named Nadali did. She startled me, she did. But it's all right. Rishid's grown a bit, and now he's getting into everything. His odd arm, the one that looks shredded but never seems to hurt him, had become an apt tool to get things off a high shelf as it's slightly longer than his other arm. Talk about having to child-proof.
I took him to the market again, because I needed groceries, but i had to give him a jacket. Not only is it getting chilly out, but we were getting odd looks that I'd prefer Rishid not notice. He noticed, of course, but they didn't seem to matter to him too much. He was much too engrossed in the packaging of the groceries I bought. Twice i had to tell him to not try opening the cereal.
He's so cute, though. I'm anxious to see how he progresses as he gets older, but that can take it's time. I don't want him growing up too fast~ Too much stuff to show him now~

...Rishid got into the bubbly. >.<;;;; Okay, so that mostly my fault, since I left my glass on the counter where he could reach it while I went out into the pens to calm down the Maus. The fireworks were scaring them. When I came back... Rishid was sitting on the floor, looking rather... tipsy. And if that weren't indication enough, my glass was lying on the floor next to him.
Was I angry? Marginally. He knows better than to just take things off the counter, especially after I caught him trying to do that with cleaner that I'd been using on the sink. >.>;;; After that, I always have one of Kaen's brood watching him and the rest of mine when I'm cleaning.
But the sight of him on the floor was admittedly too amusing initially for me to get any real sort of angry. So I picked him up- he fell asleep almost as soon as I touched him- and carried him to bed. Now hopefully he won't be cranky in the morning. >.>;;

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I've never seen Rishid so excited. He's apparently caught on to what Valentine's Day is and I think he's going to approach Amira or Rinny. X3 So cute! I'm not sure how he's going to do it, but his tail keeps swishing happily when he looks at them, especially Amira. And he's been extra-helpful around Chronos Dragons and Maneki Neko. Trying to show off, maybe? I don't know- I'll have to talk to Kaen and see what she thinks. But I think he is. And I swear I caught him being oddly fastidious about his hair in the mirror the other day.
X3 So yeah. We'll see.

Yeah, so update on Rishid. He's got it bad for Amira. Really bad. As in asking me all the time where Amira is, asking different things about Amira, etc. It's cute. He's a bit perturbed because the family's fixing to get bigger with two new adoptions from another shop. Not much for crowds. But he should be fine. He spends a lot of time in the Meadows now, up in a tree. He mostly avoids the others in the meadows, but I'm not worried. He was never very social.
But he should get some time to himself and Amira tomorrow because all the babies are going to be babysat by Ren and Nick while Kaen and I go out for our anniversary. With that many of the little ones running around, I'm sure Rishid and Amira will be able to slip off without someone following.

I'm so proud of Rishid. I'd been worried lately about him because he's gotten more and more reclusive from everyone and spending more time in the Keep where the maus and dragons stay. But, it turns out, he's been going there for a completely different reason than I thought. There's a little cygnet there that one of the maus had found and brought to him. Rishid's been caring for it. I found out about it when Layne went back there to check on a sick mau.
He stumbled on Rishid and the cygnet, slipped away, and came to let me know. I don't think Rishid knows that I know, but if not, that's fine. I know he'd always been a bit put out that he's not big enough to really help with the major things around the shop and surrounding land, especially going out and looking in the forest and mountains for abandoned nests and kits.
But he's almost there. I think when he's a bit bigger I'll send him out with Yuki and Bakura. I'd send Layne too, but he's better suited for keeping things calm on the home front.
I wonder if Rishid has told Amira about the cygnet? No way to know and Kaen doesn't know either, I don't think, or she'd have mentioned something by now. But I wonder why Rishid's been caring for it in secret? Ah well. Heh, guess he's growing up faster than I realize.

=3=;;; Christ on a crutch. Moving. YAY. Due to the shop growing too large, Kaen and I had to move to larger quarters with a range and closer to the wild forests. We're keeping the previous property for a new shop opening in the near future. But that still meant, DUN DUN DUN. Moving. Well, thank god all of the children were old enough to either help out or young enough to be babysat. Rishid was more than willing to help, thank god, because he's one of the strongest of the children. I don't think what happened the first day of moving would have gone as well as it did without him.
It started when the moving van was late. It wasn't such a bad thing, as we only needed it for the big furniture and hardware. Any machinery that could move under its own power was currently being driven to the new property by Layne, Yuki, Karna, and about eight of the humans we know. And anyone driving a machine with carrying capacity or anyone that owned a vehicle drove back and forth . We looked like a bunch of ants, I bet. It was chaos, what with dozens of dragons and maus running around.
But when the moving van was four, then five, then six hours late, there was a problem. And we knew it. We had to call the company, who told us that the van should have been there on time. It left on time, at any rate.
Rishid came running up at that point, having disappeared to transport his cygnet (which by now everyone knows about due to the poor thing almost getting stepped on and Rishid causing a ruckus about it). Since he's always been one to do things his own way, it hadn't worried anyone that he didn't go with one of the adults and instead took off through the woods.
Well, anyway, Rishid comes running up to me, the cygnet still in his arms. Which tells me immediately that something's wrong because that means that something happened on the way that made him turn around.
Turns out, the bridge to get here from the city is washed out from the rain we'd been having. Rishid knows that passing along that river is the shortest way between the two properties. Not necessarily the easiest for most of us and it's all brush, but Rishid, true to cat nature, slips right through I'd imagine. We'd have to hack through, so what would take us hours takes him only a fraction of that.
We all exchange glances. Crap. With the bridge out, the truck can't get here. But once you get to the bridge, you've long hit the dirt road and there'd be no room for that truck to back up and turn around.
And then it gets worse. Rishid tells us that the driver was stopped in a mudskid near the river and was sliding towards the water just from the sheer weight of the vehicle.
Well, luckily, the "fleet" was returning and we held everyone who came back. Once everyone had gotten back, we told everyone what had happened and realized then that if the bridge was washed out, we'd be unable to get across to the truck.
So Rishid speaks up again that he knows a way across that doesn't use the bridge. So we followed him and he led us to the truck. Any of the dragons that could fly got to the other side to steady the logs, though Rishid somehow got over there before the dragons could. Resourceful kid.
Well, long story short- we get across, pull the truck back, and get the truck to a point where it can turn around. We'll rebuild the bridge in the morning and the truck'll try again.
Since most of the food is at the new place- as we were expecting to be finished today- we end up sending every human into town to swarm fast food places. Because- yes- dragons can eat fast food. Salads for the maus.
Rishid, of course, disappears once he's gotten his food. He'll be back in the morning. It's been an eventful day.
