A Moonlit Encounter
People involved: Josh, Casper, Kaurii, and Rukiya Place/setting: A small park in Barton West. A light snow covers the ground as the cloudless night creates a perfect setting for a friendly meeting. Reason behind: Kaurii had gone shopping with Rukiya in Barton and had met up with Josh along the way home.

Kaurii grumbled softly, her breath visible, as one of her grocery bags slipped from her arm and tumbled onto the ground. Rukiya yelped a bit from the inside of Kaurii's large jacket, surprised at the sound of cans hitting icy concrete. Tucking strands of her raven hair behind one ear, Kaurii bent over, putting another bag of groceries onto the ground beside her as she began to clean up the mess that had appeared.
"Jeez. The coldest night of the year, and my folks send me to get the groceries! ...I'm happy that you were willing to join me though, Rukiya," the young girl smiled as Rukyia let out a bark of a reply. Her tail wagged against Kaurii's breast as she slipped deeper into her mother's jacket as a fierce, icy wind blew against them. Kaurii blew a few stray strands out of her face as she continued organizing her mess.
Rukiya hissed quietly to herself as the wind seemed to blow through Kaurii's heavy jacket, hitting her little legs directly. Rukiya had grown attached to the bundle of blanket at Kaurii's home, but her mother decided it was time for Rukiya to "stop acting spoiled." Rukiya had become irritated at Kaurii's comment, but understood. She would have to grow up someday..Sighing, Rukiya thought,
And I guess that day is today. #%$@!!! Is it cold!!
Rukiya shivered in Kaurii's jacket, though became immediately alert as she noticed someone approaching.
"ARF ARF! ARF ARF!" she barked, her fur rising. It was a cat she sensed.

Josh still couldn’t believe that his student had canceled today. After all, he had played tennis in more precarious conditions than this. ‘I still remember the time it was snowing so hard that-’ a frigid wind stirred under his feet blowing upwards through his light jacket and sweat pants. The rapid chill successfully tearing him away from any thoughts he had previously created. “Freak, it’s cold!!!” He cursed out to the world not caring who heard is fit of aggravation. He looked over to the well bundled Casper who was donning around three jackets right now. He inched over to the cat-boy and cuddled into the vast folds of fabric. He was utterly delighted with the warmth radiating from Casper. “Hey there buddy…” Casper couldn’t help but roll his eyes indifferent to his master’s actions. He was supposed to be the ‘pet’ here. There was a nagging though; a tug at his heart strings that his master could always seem to bring him. The sensation helped add to the bundles of heat securely fastened around him. Casper’s ears perked and he let out a soft growl from inside his heated chest. He smelled the unmistakable hint of dog.

"Rukiya?"
Kaurii looked down at her pup, noticing that Rukiya seemed to have become incredibly agitated. Attempting to soothe her pet's unknown temper, she began to pet Rukiya, only to have her fingers nipped at. Rukiya continued to bark. A loud curse reached Kaurii's ears, though, the moment Rukiya had nipped her and the student looked around at the other end of the park.
"Oh?" was all that she was able to utter, her cerulean eyes now locked onto an unfamiliar boy around her age.
Rukiya continued to bark, her ears lying lowly against her head. "ARF ARF!" she screamed, before snapping her jaws shut.
CATTTTTTT!!! Rukiya's mind screamed.

Luckily for Casper most of his animalistic urges had subsided by now. He could only tilt his head inquisitively at the two ahead of them on the winding path. He barely noticed that he had stopped in his tracks next to the girl until he spoke unflustered words to her. The sentence dangled hollowly from his mouth and was left to float on the fierce wind. “Hello… how are you?” Josh was forced to stop or else he would have been ripped away from his one soul source of comfort at the time being. He gave a look at the girl Casper had seemed to take a shining to. She was around his age and had deep pools of azure adorning her features perfectly. “Umm, hello there!” He piped up his voice cracking ever so slightly because of the intense cold blanketed around his shivering frame.

Kaurii looked up at Casper and Josh especially, her cheeks turning slightly pink..from the cold, or ..something else. She hesitated in replying, and stared, before realizing she was staring. Excusing herself, Kaurii quickly pushed all of her groceries back into their bags and stood up, smoothing her hair out nervously as she did.
"He-hello" she chirped, her voice somewhat fading from the cold's brutality. Rukiya let out another bark before sniffing the air and sneezing at Casper's now-heavy scent. She silenced, before eyeing the ghost-like creature with what appeared to be a look of dislike.
"ARF!" Rukiya barked, before being hushed by Kaurii.
"Rukiya, be polite to...? Can I ask you your nam-.. OHMIGOSH!" Kaurii took a step back, falling onto her butt though, after her foot had slipped. Her eyes widened in a kind of fear as she looked up and finally noticed Casper. She stared intently at him, as Rukiya glared silently.

Casper gave a sour look at the pup snuggled to the girl’s breast. ‘Ugh, dogs… so loud.’ He maintained though as if the creature was a mild annoyance to him. “Who is the pup?” Casper’s words had an eerie tinge of interest adorning them. He fluffed up softly in his jacket easily making himself appear bigger to the small and feeble puppy. Josh nearly slung himself from the recesses of Casper’s jackets as he bolted to catch Kaurri. “Are you okay!” He asked with shock lining his voice heavily. “Oh, I’m Josh by the way. You are?”

Kaurii's mouth gapped a little as Casper spoke, but felt her face burning nonetheless.
"I'm..Kaurii. Kaurii Lefay, and this is my-my-my dog..Rukiya. Excuse my rudeness, but..WHO is that?" she stuttered, as a cool wind blew against her hot cheeks. Rukiya fluffed up her fur in dislike of the wind and snuggled deeper into Kaurii's clothes, glaring at Casper with a deeper intensity than before.
Rukiya snorted lightly at the tone of Casper's voice, appearingly not as intimidated as Casper may have liked. Her ears remained alert as she felt as if she was being challenged.
CATS. Hell bound creatures that infest this planet with such a personality..Their brashness, their hideous appearance remain unmatched...Oooh.. How I detest them. Rukiya growled mentally, completely ignoring Josh who had bent over to assist Kaurii.

Casper smiled pompously at Kaurii and the pup; making sure to focus a bit longer on the teal fuzz ball just to get under her skin. “I’m Casper…” His responses were concise and succinct, but had a tone that left you wanting to her more. “It’s a pleasure to meet you two.” Josh couldn’t help notice Kaurii’s gaze directed at Casper well… lack of a lower body. “He is a ghost if you hadn’t noticed.” Josh gave a charming laugh and wrapped an arm firmly around his charge. “He is harmless though.”

Kaurii felt her face grow hot as she shook her head in apology and stood up, dusting herself off as she did. Rukiya licked her neck as if to bring her mother's attention back to her and Kaurii smiled.
"It's..a pleasure. Again, allow us to introduce ourselves. I'm Kaurii, and this is my pet, Rukiya. I'm sorry she barked at you, Casper in such a way. I've only had her for a few days, so I'm really new to this mothering thing" Kaurii apologized. Rukiya shook her head.
"ARF ARF (Ignore her. I MEANT to be rude to you, CAT.)," Rukiya barked, baring her teeth a little at Casper.
Kaurii rolled her azure eyes before holding out a hand to Josh. "I attend North Durem High School a few streets away from here. And you?"

Josh brushed off the girl’s uneasiness and listened to her diligently absorbing all the facts and tidbits of information. “It’s okay, it’s not like cats and dogs were the best of friends to begin with anyway.” He replied with faint laughter as he huddled up next to Casper once again. Josh took Kaurii’s hand graciously and was pleased to find traces of warmth on them. “I attend South Durem Private Technical Center. It‘s a few blocks that way.” Josh motioned down one of the abundant streets. Casper was finding himself annoyed at the childish behavior the pup was exhibiting. Soon, he found all of his patience wearing thin until he finally snapped. Casper sent Rukiya a harsh growl; one that tears through even the most self-absorbed canines. It was if he just condemned the poor pup to his ‘bad list‘.

Rukiya flinched at Casper's harsh growl and felt her fur lower a bit. Her tail had stopped its wagging, and her mouth became closed. She let out a long, low whine as Kaurii felt a surge of panic.
"Oh Rukiya..That's what you get for being so rude" Kaurii scolded, though pet the young pup lovingly. Immediately though, she returned to her conversation with Josh.
"South Durem Tech huh? Nice. I'm currently studying to become a pharmacist, so my parents allowed me to go to North Durem because of their medical program. I have to build up a resume though, so I also play tennis when I am not studying" she said, giggling a bit at herself.
Rukiya stared intently at Casper before beginning to bark a little more, softer but still barking.

Casper’s anger soon dissipated into nothing more than a slight regret. He decided that it was useless getting agitated at such a young pup. It was like getting mad at a brick wall; no matter how much you hit, screamed, or retaliated the thing would still be there to piss you off. Casper sucked it up with a soft huff of air and chose to direct his interest back to the cerulean eyed girl in front of him. Josh grinned broadly, “That is wonderful!” He could’ve jump for joy at the moment. “Recently I have been taking a job as a tennis instructor. That is actually why I am out here… We should play each other sometime.”

Kaurii broke out into another smile before nodding in agreement.
"Sounds nice. How many years have you been playing? I've only been playing for about five years, so I'm no expert."
Rukiya noticed that Casper had quickly grown uninterested in her, so she became quite quiet. Her ears remained alert, but she appeared more willingly to get to know Casper, now that she understood he was harmless. She let out a bark to try and catch Casper's attention once more, before squeezing out of Kaurii's jacket and landing softly onto the cold ground.

Josh blinked in an almost shocked manner. He contemplated relentlessly on the question trying to think back to when he first started his early tennis days. "Around 7 years. Not much more then you!" He gave a faint laugh as he was starting to feel a tad intimidated by the girl. Casper backed off slowly as the pup took testing and tentative steps towards him. He puffed up slightly as is showing her who was boss.
