Today, after being adopted by a young oriental girl named Kaurii, I was brought to her and my new 'home'. Instantly, I breathed in the scent of another dog. At first the fur on the back of my neck rose up, but then I noticed something; The scent was sweet and light, hardly noticeable unless you were looking for it like I was. I perked my maroon ears in interest, because even though I could smell her, I couldn't see her. Kaurii kissed me softly on the head, and I wagged my tail in delight. She walked up the carpeted stairs with me in her arms and headed for a room at the top. That's when the other dog's smell became intensely strong. I was actually taken aback.
Walking into the room, I seemed to be embraced by greenery. The walls were a vivid green and there was even a small plant on the desk that Kaurii obviously studied at. I was quite impressed, letting out a bark in approval. Kaurii shushed me gently, and then led me to a large carrier laid next to the desk. I sniffed the air at the entrance of it and knew immediately that the other dog was asleep inside.
"That's Rukiya, Casanova. You'll meet her later, kay?" Kaurii informed me. I nodded in understanding as she led me to her bed. Placing me carefully on her covers, she ruffled my fur playfully and I allowed my tail to wag hard against the covers. She giggled softly before rubbing my neck and then pulling out a small collar from her pocket. It was a black velvet and it looked so elegant. She bent forward and slipped it loosely on me and held up a mirror from her purse to allow me to adore myself. I smiled and panted in joy, before letting out a yawn.
Kaurii immediately understood, kissed me lightly again, and allowed me to lie down on her covers. She then bent into 'Rukiya's' cage and picked her up carefully, placing her ever so preciously beside me. I stared intensely at the other pup, noting every little detail about her. Her teal skin with its unique little grey markings. Her obviously wore down paws. I let out a heavy sigh as I fell asleep looking at her, wondering what her personality must be like. As I fell into a deep sleep, I heard the click of the door as Kaurii left the room and allowed us to nap...
The next thing I know someone has released an incredibly obnoxious barking..THING next to me. I was still quite sleepy, but the irritation was a persistent thing, soon forcing me to open my eyes. I knew who it was instantly as I began to stretch. Shaking my fur, I felt Rukiya's eyes burning into my skin. I turned to her and smiled, staring into her night sky-colored eyes with my vivid green ones, knowing she was somewhat intimidated. I continued to smile as we began to circle and sniff each other. That when she seemed to show maximum frustration and she jumped off the bed, heading back to her carrier. I must say..I was immediately drawn to her. I was curious as to know what made her so angry..or simply put: I wanted to know her. Kaurii came in a little while later and saw that Rukiya had sat her in her cage to skulk and fume, but decided to pay her little mind. She pet me again and then went to doing her homework.
I saw a few minutes longer, sitting up straight..and feeling Rukiya's eyes burn into my back.

I'm uncertain on how the events came about, but when I arrived home from school today, tennis practice having been cancelled due to rain, I saw Rukiya lunging towards Casanova. I let out a sharp 'Stop!' and immediately dropped my school supplies to intervene. Next thing I knew, Rukiya's canines were being dug lightly into my skin. I felt my face grow hot and tears being to well up in my eyes. I let out a little whimper of pain, but then simply grabbed Rukiya and placed her carefully into her cage. I closed the cage and ignored her little cries for redemption.
"What has gotten into you Rukiya? I know you don't like Casanova, but you're going to have to learn to deal, understand? -- Ouch! That stings.." I said, though there was no strength in my voice. The small vibrations of pain flowed throughout my hand and so, glancing once more at Casanova and Rukiya, I left the room to cleanse and bandage my hand. I had to rush quickly to the bathroom so that my brothers and my mom wouldn't see, but I managed it somehow.
When I returned to my room, I saw Casanova next to the door of Rukiya's cage, simply staring at her. It was an intense moment though, for the tension was so high in the room now, I felt like if I took in one huff of air, I would be attacked again. I left the room, knowing that now the two would have a steel door between them. I grabbed my school stuffs and took them downstairs to study.
Those two would just have to learn to get along.
I watched as Kaurii carefully but quickly placed Rukiya in her carrier, before rushing to a bathroom to cleanse her wound. I stared at Rukiya intensely, knowing I had found my boundaries, though I knew Rukiya simply thought I was trying to provoke her into biting me. I was just curious as to how patient of a dog she was. Well, it's proven she's not a patient dog. Oh well. Journal, allow me to explain how this situation with Kaurii's hand bleeding and Rukiya's imprisonment began.
About an hour or so before Kaurii came home from wherever she went, Rukiya informed it was called 'school', I began following Rukiya around the home. It was elegant, but not too crowded. The whole time though, I wasn't really paying the rooms any attention, and maybe Rukiya noticed that with my lack of conversation..No, she's not that bright. Ha. Anyways, as Rukiya tried to get me involved and showed me around the home, I was thinking up ways of seeing where my boundaries were. I knew instantly that Rukiya was easily irritated, but I wanted to know how quickly would she snap. That's when I came up with a plan. As we returned to Kaurii's room, I threw a question out to Rukiya.
"So..you're the only dog right?" I made sure my voice was flat and expressionless, so that she wouldn't suspect even the slightest bit of trickery. She hesitated before answering boldly..a little too boldy, "OF COURSE! Kaurii loves me dearly too!"
Then I set my plan into motion. I snorted rudely, as if mocking her and then smirked coolly, replying with, "Really now? Then why would she buy another dog? ..Think about it, mutt."
I knew the little bit about being a mutt was unnecessary, but..it helped push things along. If she was actually unintelligent, she would have simply sat on the bed and looked down at her paws in submission. If she had done that, I would have apologized and knew that Rukiya was simply a misunderstood pup and a friendship may have blossomed. But then again, noticed how I said "if." Instantly, proving to me she was a complete hothead, Rukiya spat curses and insults of every kind at me before FINALLY thinking up a somewhat smart response.
"What? You intimidated by me? HA! A male who can't even stand up to a territorial challenge. What a wimp, you are a waste of my time."
For some odd reason, journal, as soon as Rukiya 'insulted' me like this, I felt a sudden irritation well up inside me. Understand, I am not the kind of person who likes to have something I want held up out of my reach. I wanted her to be submissive. I wanted her to be a tranquil person. Sadly, I was forced to become aggressive and sharp tongued.
Staring fiercely into Rukiya's eyes, I knew I had her pinned. I beared my teeth a little, the fur on the back of my neck rising with annoyance, before I finally regained my cool posture and purred wickedly,
"So you want to battle for territory, Rukiya? How..uncivilized, but then again we are animals now aren't we?" As another act of intimidation, I snapped my jaws sharply, also breaking out into a devilish smile at the end. I heard her utter a whimper and I smirked inside. I let out a small chuckle, hoping to confuse her emotions by throwing some charm at her...And it worked.
"Yes. An animal can't lie now can it? An animal only knows pure emotions doesn't it? Hehe..Rukiya, shouldn't I be asking you your own question?"
For my final act, I trotted over to, crossing the sea of blankets before finally reaching her face. I leaned in closely, our noses almost touching as I whispered such sinister words in her ear that I almost broke out of my 'role' and laughed,
"Shouldn't I be asking you..Are you intimated by ME?"
I felt that she was going to back up away from me, but I denied her that action as I crossed my paw over her front paw. I demanded attention and focus, as I forced her to look into my eyes. I knew what she saw: emerald danger. I smirked handsomely before I walked away from her and regained my previous position across from her, smiling to myself as I walked the fur on her face deepen with a blush. Ohhhh~! Am I really so charming? Hahaha. Then she burst out with a series of barks, her face flushed with crimson almost identical to my own pigment. She finally got the hint: I WAS challenging her.
I couldn't help but sneer and then nudge my nose upwards as an insult to her. I stood my ground and prepared for a quarrel. But when she lunged to bite me fiercely, Kaurii rushed in and got her hand bit instead..for she tried to stop us. [sigh] How depressing, you understand. I wanted the fight, I wanted to pin Rukiya down and lick her and confuse her more..But I guess..Things can't always go as planned.

2/14/07
Last night, I awoke to a muffled whimpering and I sat up as Kaurii slept beside me, and saw one of Rukiya's hind legs twitching. She was having a nightmare...I hesitated but then jumped off the bed and walked over to the cage door, stopping very close to the lock. I looked inside and saw the teal dog sleeping, but her body was shaking, her legs twitched now and then, her tail was flopping around, and her fur was matted with sweat. For some reason though, no matter how worried I knew Kaurii would feel if she saw Rukiya, I felt nothing. Really, I felt unsure on how to react. I wasn't going to unlock the door and wake Rukiya up; that would be too risky.
But I certainly felt like just sitting there was not an option either. I continued to watch her flail and squirm, fully asleep, before I came to a decision. Rustling the cage door quietly, I saw Rukiya's body stop moving and then in the darkness that covered her face, I think I saw her ears perk a little. There was silence, but then I spoke out in a low and soothing voice,
"I'm sorry you're in there..alone, Rukiya."
A silence hung over the two of us like a small invisible raincloud. I don't know why I had decided to apologize, but it felt right. The void in my heart?, soul? felt full as I said those words and waited for a reply. There was none for several minutes, so I walked back towards Kaurii's bed. I was cold, and if Rukiya didn't care for my somewhat-sympathetic words, then I wouldn't care for her either.
Just as I was turning away though, I heard a small voice perk up.
"Why..Why do you keep changing personalities on me?" her voice wa trembling with confusion..or maybe it was sadness, I'm uncertain, but what I am certain of is the wave of depression I felt at that moment. I turned around, my face showing slight irritation though I was really calm and expressionless, and saw Rukiya sitting up and looking at me. Her dark blue eyes sparkled in the moonlight, and I felt my heart race as I saw that she was crying a little. A stab in my heart. A tornado. The void returned with a tenfold strength.
"What do you mean?" I said as coolly as possible, trying to hide my exhilaration. She scoffed and then glared directly at me, impressing me somewhat as she stared into my eyes. I sighed, knowing she knew I was lying and that my words had no more effect on her. I walked towards her again and sat myself in front of her cage and we simply sat and stared. It felt like days passed before finally I replied to her original question.
"I'm not one to show my intentions or feelings easily. You've got to earn my respect, my attention. I'm a dog who believes that he is right, one hundred percent and anyone who wishes to challenge me, shall be defeated easily," I felt as if I was spilling too much information out, like a dam who broke and flooded the city. But then again, I felt strong and confident in myself and my actions. I heard Rukiya shift her body weight before noticing that she was now looking down at my paws. I raised a brow in curiousity but then realized something: She was trying to apologize. She was trying to inform me of my dominance. Instead of huffing up like I usually do when admired and exhalted, I felt myself downgraded.
"You don't have to tell me how you feel, what makes you cry, nothing like that. I just..I hate being hurt," her voice fluttered on many scales as I watched tears flow down her face. I literally took a step back and felt myself grow flustered. I ..I didn't know how to react! We stood like that for several moments, again, until I sighed and then let out a small chuckle.
"..I guess you really do intimidate me, Rukiya. I think you've called yourself submissive long enough," I sighed in defeat, before walking over to her cage and lifting up the lock to free her. I nudged open the door and waited for her to come out, but then I saw that she just went further back into her carrier. I was confused for a second, but after letting out a yawn, I understood. Walking into the carrier, I allowed my body to collapse next to Rukiya's, laying my head on her stomach. I let out another heavy sigh as I fell asleep to Rukiya's soft breathing.
You cannot force a person to change their true forms...but you can get them to bend a little. And last night, I believe I became a little more flexible.

3/29/07[tennis match]
We met an incredibly cold feline today. Casper was his name and I have felt no greater hatred in my life. He wore an odd rag over his face and he admitted to being a father. Ugh. I feel contaminated just remembering the events...though I did find a new love for ice cream. Strawberry.
Onto Rukiya, the witch. She dominated me time and time again, and it's starting to alter my personality...in a way I truly dislike. Acacia, Acacia. The only one decent of my attention.
